Icasa has been made aware of the situation Peter7. LG has been chatting to them about the issue. Not much more that can be done I reckon other than voice your own concerns to Icasa. Info in this thread.Peter7 said:I received confirmation from my ISP that the per GB billing system is indeed fact and not a rumor. My question to this forum: is ANYbody doing anything about this? Seriously? Or are we just going to react when Nov 1 comes and still pay for the exhorbitant prices after moaning? (Similar to what was done with the high banking costs in this country) - Sorry, I'm also probably coming on a bit too strong - but geez Telkom can't get away with this!

dominic I don't think the regulations on pricing bandwidth are very clear. When the new price regime was being debated earlier this year, ICASA decided at the last minute to include ADSL into 'the basket' which would be subject to the Price Cap. I don't know if the wording was simply 'ADSL' in general, or if it got specific and mentioned the various aspects of ADSL, like bandwidth.
I cannot seem to find the correct douments on ICASA's website. Since they changed their website, some of the documents that were previously there have been removed. Also, some of the documents are dated incorrectly.
Someone needs to call ICASA and ask where they can find a detailed description of the elements of the basket.
I *think* that the regulations on the pricing of bandwidth will turn out to be ambigious, as I think they only mention 'ADSL' and not the components of ADSL pricing.
Please won't someone call ICASA (011 321 8200 - ask for the telecoms regulations dept) and ask where one can find a detailed description of what elements make up the basket which is subject to the Price Cap?
I don't have credit on my phone, and I don't have a home phone so I cannot call.

DVDA said:Red herrings are one thing. If you are living in South Africa, and are remotely interested in comms, you know that SAIX = Telkom. For the regulator to not know this is inexcusable.
