Will the old voice telephone lines also be discontinued?
https://mybroadband.co.za/news/telecoms/167613-telkom-to-remove-line-rental-for-adsl.htmlTelkom CEO Sipho Maseko said they are set to remove line rental from household broadband services.

Ease up with the entitlement there.I expect this matter to end in a dispute between ISP's and Telkom since Telkom has a monopoly over copper infrastructure in this country. ISP's would lose a ton of revenue in the process.
from what i understand smart voice cost includes line rental. My gran has a FLLA phone which she pays R200 line rental for. If she switches to Smart Voice will she have to pay The line rental on top of the monthly subscription fee?

Awesome.from what i understand smart voice cost includes line rental.
Awesome.
She went to Telkom only for the clueless sales lady to say "Uhm I'm not sure, on all our products you must pay line rental"
You may not be dumb but you aren't being smart either.Telkom keeps calling me and trying to offer me a conversion to fibre. Drawback is they want me to pay in extra. They also want me to commit to 24m. Sorry, but I ain't that dumb
This migration is one stage of Telkom’s plan to shut down its copper network entirely in the next five years
And suffer through buffering while waiting for Netflix to try and work through this carp signal. Telkom have lied, they have not contacted me about alternatives and are being dead quite every time I try to contact them. My DSL is rock steady and works well.
Telkom to kill and replace ADSL
Telkom has announced that it is decommissioning its prepaid fixed-line service after migrating 96% of these customers to wireless products.
The company said its wireless technology is more reliable than copper infrastructure, which can be severely impacted by adverse weather conditions and cable theft.
About what specifically?
I'm getting 37ms ping on LTE. What kind of latency are you getting?
They only contacted and converted majority of prepaid line users the rest of the users is still in progress - like still 5 years before they kill copper.I followed it up after the highlighted part, like it is right there <_<. They have never contacted me to discuss moving me off DSL.
