What is the hype about wireless, I yet to hear one good call from a cellphone or internet to a radio station as an incoming call. The presenter always sounds perfect, but the incoming callers sound like crap, sometimes very difficult to make out what they saying, landline=good quality, rarely a line hum or problem.
I noticed this a from a few years back when a huge hype was made about data with cellphones, so what went wrong here-?
So where are we going in/with this modern wireless world. I never had a single problem with the landline or ADSL as a result for many years. I hate to think I must use this wireless crap and pay for it.
if you have fibre why is this an issue for you?The day any wireless can give me below will I consider getting it as backup:

That's my town too - Sedgefield. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. There are plenty of areas (like mine) where Telkom has absolutely no wireless or fibre coverage, but pretty decent ADSL/VDSL coverage.

Same hereI've been playing online games over LTE for almost two years now. No problems.
lol they always say to people please turn off your radio - and they don't and you get this crap echo over then phone.Radio is just a mess waiting to happen with echo to content with over low quality radio frequency likely from someone on speaker phone in a car etc.
You comparing what the presenter on radio sounds like (not an actual phone BTW) to what a person on their switchboard sounds like? - you realise how many people call radio station and put it on bluetooth or speaker phone?
Yes Mobile can be bad but so can landline
Also Voip line - you know if a person is calling form a voip lines?
so many people i know who had lines previously and been moved over to the mobily , their calls are so much more clearer !
I agree if you got a crappy copper line, thats it, you're screwed and anything that works will be better, but if I got a good copper line for years, are used to the absolute stability, I would not want to trade that for wireless.
Need your help , Not sure if this is the correct forum/thread
We haven't had a line/ADSL for the past three weeks due to cable theft .
We average about 300GB a month on a 4mb uncapped line so getting LTE isn't going to give us the same amount of data .
Telkom doesn't have LTE coverage or residential Fibre in my area.
I live about 1.5 Kms from the Telkom exchange .
A few local business in the area have fibre but no residential fibre customers , is there a way for me to motivate our ADSL line being replaced with fibre seeing as there isn't cellular coverage in my area .
Who can I escalate to ?
apologies for the bad writing . Thank you in advance .
There is no answer to this question. You will be crapped on because apparently it is all your fault for being stupid and not knowing that mobile / LTE etc is apparently available with high speed connections 24/7 absolutely everywhere in the country. And when you try to explain nicely, like you have, that no, in fact there are areas where copper is the only option available, you will be told again that you don't know what you are talking about by the internet experts.
Clearly, you don't know what you are talking about... LTE-HSDPA-5G is everywhere!
/Sarcasm off/
@Night-Fury Unfortunately, if you have spotty/no LTE coverage you are pretty much up shyte creek without a paddle. Telkom won't install fibre in your area without critical mass of residents (and even then its no guarantee)....
Your best bet might be a Poynting Antenna to boost the LTE signal if that would work and then investigate the options that are out there. You may struggle to get 300GB but you could get close to that for not ridiculous money.
yes but Telkom is just turning a blind eye to the fact that they are going to be cutting off large numbers of rural customers from functional internet connections.
No, Telkom aren't... they're doing basic cost/benefit analysis for themselves as a company... the rural connections probably cost more than they generate therefore from a business point of view you want to jettison those connections as quickly as possible.
Uh hello we aren't rubbish to be tossed out at the nearest possible opportunity. We are CUSTOMERS! Just like anyone else.
