Telkom to retrench workers

just don't let services levels get any worse please

out of interest, is this so you can reduce price on the LL?

Been thinking about this...

How is it possible to retrench temporary workers? On employment you tell them that their contract period is either for a certain period of time or for the duration of a project.

If no expectation of permanent employment has been created, then surely it is not retrenchment when the termination date is reached?

I agree that a full retrenchment process would not be needed but these workers could have additional rights depending on conditions.

A lot would depend on how long a period they have been employed by Telkom as contractors. If for example it is years and they have been renewed regularly then they may well be seen as permies. If its under a year then their rights will be a lot less.

I agree! Will eliminate the current HO driven silo's that are destroying localised customer service.

I agree with splitting Telkom up into separate entities, but disagree with each one being provincial based. They'll still have little reason to compete, especially in Gauteng, KZN and WP where most of their income is derived.

Is there there any such thing left :D

Those dudes up in the ivory towers really do not have a clue what's going on on the ground. Customer service is a buzzword they heard in some management training program. The way they manipulate stats & handle tickets to make themselves look good is comical as that is how they measure their customer satisfaction.

Comical
