Telkom tops HelloPeter bad service chart

Their "policy" is that you pay first, then ask questions, and then they will credit you (hopefully) on the next invoice.

My concern is, wasn't the new CPA's point to challenge this kind of behavior? Creditors being unable to auto opt-in users? Being transparent when presenting a new product to a client? No hidden costs? Its super surprising that these guys can get away with this kind of behavior, and at the end of the day you the one left with an account R500+ less than you budgeted?

Telkom knows that many people and businesses have no choice but doing business with them. Hence their arrogance.

We all know Telkom should be at the top of the list - but Hellopeter really sucks. Its extortion - you have to pay hellopeter to respond.

Yes, it is blatant extortion, but it's even worse than that. Telkom used to respond and paid HP for the priviledge. Then one day HP said to Telkom they are no longer allowing them to respond and canned their access, because Telkom was actually resolving too many complaints. Remember that Telkom generates huge "first visitor" traffic for HP, so if the complaints go down, so does HP's exposure.

A friend of mine used to have involvement in handling the Telkom complaints and this is what he told me.

4.5 million telephone users, ~800000 ADSL users, 210 complaints a month (2500 in a year).

Sounds quite good to me.
Considering they don't bother answering, thats alot of effort those 2500 complainants go through to put their complaints up. Compare it to compliments and come back.

Sorry if I find that hard to believe. Perhaps start a thread with that claim, I'm sure someone is bound to be connected and can clear it up.

If Telkom knows what is good for them they will start responding to HelloPeters complaints. For starters, it will show that they care about their customers. In my experience, many complaints are unreasonable and unjustified. It is always good to get two sides of a story.

Well seing as Telkom sits at top of my list of most hated companies. I approve this message.
I have spent hours on the phone with a telecommunication company listening to their Cheezy music.
I hate the fact that I have to go to the telkom online shop because I can't get hold of them on the phone.
I hate the fact that I have to go back to said shop because their phone lines were down.
I hate the fact that I don't have a choice but to use them for low latency connections.
Their service is just so bad people have just come to accept it...

Telkom isn't the most painful of the communication companies to deal with. Matter of fact, I'd rather deal with telkom than vodacom, cellc and neotel.

Point 1:
Telkom do not respond for whatever reason. we can speculate this forever, and some of the reasons here are just not believable.
So why do 8ta respond?
Point 2 and it has been mentioned already:
3 month free deal, Telkom will over charge you. You will have to fight with them and they will charge you interest on money supposedly owed. Been there done that glad it is now over. Rather just pay the line rental and go with another ISP. The time and effort will be worth it.

Absolutely. Only get what you absolutely need to from Telkom, no more.

I suspect Hellopeter would get a lot more Telkom complaints if people thought it might make a difference. I for one didn't expect my own serious issues with Telkom to be resolved quickly or easily no matter how much online complaining I did.

I haven't had Neotel - and Vodacom are pretty bad.

However - IMO - Telkom outdoes them multiple times over.

I applied for the promo ADSL 3 times before the end of January - a sales person called me and promised an order number. Nothing. I tried phoning, but couldn't wait that long. However as the promo deadline was looking, I had no option ...

None of my phone calls were answered and there was no way to check I was in the system.

I've just come back from Telkom Fourways and wow, I'm even more confused. Between the shrugging, mummbling and eye rolling, I have NO idea what's actually going on. I'm going to try another Telkom shop on the weekend and hope to get an answer.

My point is Vodacom not Cell C are no where near this level

i recently tried to cancel my WIMAX after 30min someone answered got transfered another 30 odd someone else answered.now i actually have a dispute number/ref number ALWAYS get a reference/dispute number!

I think HelloPeter is great. And as for extortion:

There is an annual registration, set-up and admin. fee payable by EVERY Company Who Responds to reports. The annual fee is R375.00 plus VAT (Total: R427.50 per annum). Companies are also charged an Annual Response Fee according to the number of reports currently on the site (last 12 months). Companies with less than 4 reports pay NO Annual Response Fee - they only pay the annual registration fee of R427.50.

Paying a few hundred bucks a month to maintain a good name really isn't all that much.

Honestly, after recent dealings with them, I think Vodacom should top that list.

Let's be honest, if Telkom actually responded on Hellopeter, the number of complaints
against them would quadruple. A lot of people don't bother to complain to or compliment
a company that doesn't respond. I mean, why bother?
