Telkom uncapped ADSL pricing comparison

Hi RPM. I never thought I'd see the day of "Telkom Uncapped"! I can now archive my "IBIWISI" and "imminent" jokes. Thanks for the comparison. I think a price or triple play war is on the horizon :)

I still see no reason to sign up with them, unless they have a superior network and don't throttle the user to death. I would rather choose Mweb

Telkom supporters of slow pathetic Internet, champions of nothing.

The jump from 4mbps to 10mbps is still ridiculous accross all ISP's. R2k for 10mbps equiv to nearly 200Euro or $250, still pretty insane in global comparison.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my 4Meg uncapped but I aim for what I see as the sweetspot between wallet and need and that at the mo is round the R500 mark.

Doesn't iburst and telkom require 24 months contracts or are they now also month 2 month ?

Iburst has a month to month, 12 month and 24 month contract. you get a free modem on contract or buy your own on month to month. not sure what happens with 12 month

Don't forget to add R413 Telkom ADSL rental and R140 Telkom POTS rental per month to the equation.
i.e. for a 4Mbps ADSL uncapped you are looking at +/- R1,100 per month all in.
Just a little bit expensive for the average South African.

Ond thing i think some are missing is that telkom don't actually offer a home 4/10meg package. The current one is business class as far as i can tell. Hopefully they decide to release one sooner rather than later, but for now R2000 for a 10meg business class account is actually well priced. Pity no one can afford it though.

Guys remember, 4MB uncapped from TelkomInternet is for Business users (plenty times stated) and we getting a consumer one at a much cheaper rate ;).

Really awesome comparison. They are not the MOST expensive so WD Ti.

Expect news soon after they launch their Ti Business uncapped product range :D...

Yeah to drive the point home telkomsa.net don't even list the 4meg package, its just 384 and 1meg.

What's the difference between Regular and Business ADSL?

Who's to say they aren't shaping Business ADSL?

We had a "Business" ADSL at work, and it was really slow, turns out the Telkom Exchange was congested.

The only good thing Telkom has is the SAIX backbone, but im not paying R2000 just for that IPC seems to be working just as good So Ill stick with Mweb

We will have to wait and see what performance these accounts offer. Until then its all speculation and we won't know if they are a good deal or not. Lordnokon is going to be fairly happy if he gets 2TB+ next month. But then maybe a black van will appear outside his home as soon as he passes 500gigs. :p

Quiet where hunting rabbits...

We going to get feedback in the official Telkom Internet Uncapped User Feedback topic if you wondering :)

We have a forumite semaphore who was instantly upgraded (after phoning) from an existing account to uncapped and when time allows, he is going to give us some performance feedback during throttled/un-throttled times :).
