Telkom uncapped ADSL warning

so you saying i am not allowed to use my product to the fullest? are you paying for it...no you not i am. so i will dl to the max that my line supports

Remember that te product is only affordable to you based on modelling that not everyone is so inconsiderate. Users who are intentionally taking advantage of this force us to chose between:
1) Increasing the price for all due to the behaviour of 10% in order to maintain some kind of experience
2) Let the experience degrade for everyone because of the behaviour of the 10%
3) Send nasty letters based on random limits
4) Provide incentives to the 10% to satisfy their non-time-sensitive bandwidtg requirements at times when they will not other impact users.

So, we chose (4), and the current mechanism is a carrot (you will download more in a given month, usually without being throttled, if you schedule e.g. torrents or NZBs for midnight to 06h00) and stick (if you download an unreasonable amount during peak times you will be throttled).

Some improvements are planned to make the stick less severe, but we don't have an ETA, so I don't want to provide too many details now.

Which two tracker tools are you guys talking about?
When I use the Telkom tracker tool, I get a message that because I'm on uncap this tool is not applicable to me.

Kinda my point, you have to use two tracker tools to find out where you stand.

Telkoms tracker tools are garbage.

Hmm, you mean you don't like the limited information product management asked us to show to uncapped users?

Or are you also meaning for capped products (which show exact usage figures).

(We had better some better features on tracker which weren't ported when we migrated to IPC 18 months ago, and adding some of them back is on the to-do list, but product management hasn't prioritised it over other projects they consider urgent, and due to lots of changes in progress in the rest of the company it is a moving target ...)

The tracker shows no figures at all. I have a 20GB softcap account and it show the night surfer and social data on the addon page but the main page just shows a percentage which I feel is kind off unacceptable for a capped account. How am I supposed to know my usage by just viewing a percentage bar....

Screenshot of the usage tracker on a 20GB softcap account.

A used and remaining figure with the progress bar would be nice. Now I have to use the calculator to calculate my usage with the percentage.

Its really not a easy usage tool to use. Its impossible to distinguish the 20Gb data from the free night surfer data and social data.

Yeah, i need to see the "free data" seperatly, so that when i call to complain when they throttle me i have evidence.

How would a usage graph that's green be capped on uncapped? I think this would confuse anybody.
