Hey all,

I heard a rumour this morning that Telkom may upgrade all 2Mbps lines to 4Mbps lines free of charge like they did with the 1Mbps to 2Mbps...anyone else hear anything like this?

But a while still. Its in consideration still iirc

Sweet - thanks. Thanks Mikey D - if I had read it I would not have asked :)

Hopefully by then our exchange will support more than the current 1536 kbps limit.

OMW - if it happens in January I am going to be SOOOOOOOO happy!

Heard noises about January or something like that.

Yeah i heard whispers about

12th Jan - 6th Feb (2 Mb customers will be moved to 4mb)

4Mb customers can opt to pay a small price increase to receive 10mb

All 10mb customers will receive "Maximum Supported line Speed"

Once again, all just whispers and rumours. will wait tip 1st December to see official info :)

I just wanna know what's gonna happen to 10Mb/s people like me. Does "max line speed" mean the highest adsl 2+ can support on my line? So 20MB/s if my stats are good enough?

I may just "downgrade" to 10Meg as a business 20MB/s account is a bit pricey. Or maybe get a 600BG capped account.

Is there supposed to be an announcement on the 1st of December?

There isn't an official announcement date, as far as i know. But the Fiber rollout is due to happen in December. So I'm expecting an official statement on line upgrades or what they have in store for next year with regards to fiber and Copper

This means that you can have a "Max Line Speed" of 24 Mbps if you are close enough. If you take me for example I'm able to get around "14,5 Mb" line due to my distance from the exchange. which is actually quite i nice speed bump "For Free".

Thought so.

Will be quite interesting.

As I prefer business uncapped accounts will I stay on 14Mb line with a 10meg uncapped or just get a 400GB capped account.

Must say, I've been seeing plenty of activity at the Telkom distribution points in our are the last two weeks. Have you guys been seeing the same?

I've been feeling like kid waiting for a BIG pressie ever since I heard of this! :)

If 4mb/s becomes the new 'standard' than we actually came a good way the past 2 years.
