Telkom vs Axxess

Hello MyBB'ers

I am currently on Openserve Fibre with an account through Axxess. I have no problem with Axxess, but some of the bundled Telkom offerings are making it tempting to move (Phone with free calls to Telkom numbers, Media Box, 2GB Mobile data etc).

Like most of us here I am skeptical about Telkom, but since my current fibre is on their (Openserve) infrastructure anyway, how much difference could it make to use them as my ISP as well?

Any experiences?

Well, I haven't used Telkom for Fiber or OpenServe for that matter, but had plenty of problems with Telkom from when I was on ADSL. The main issues I've had are:

1) Poor support, if you are lucky enough to get through to the right people, they are fine, but often the support is from frontline staff that have little to no knowledge.
2) In general, you have to constantly chase them to get anything done. For example, cancelling a line or moving a line. If you don't keep hassling them then nothing gets done.
3) They upgrade things based on a yearly maintenance budget. If you are unlucky enough to not get upgraded within the budget, you can be stuck for months with a poor connection.

So As all of the above translate directly to issues that could occur with a fiber connection also, I'd expect those to be the potential problems with OpenServe. But if your on an exchange that has not reached capacity and you don't have any billing related issues, they are pretty good.

I'm with Telkom on a 20Mbps fibre connection through Openserve, and have no issues whatsoever. Very happy with the service, never experience shaping and do heavy streaming and downloading.
