Hi guys. Telkom announced that they have wifi calling a long time ago. I'm at a point where I really need to get my signal boosted for phone calls.
1. I have switched on wifi calling on my phone.
2. I put my phone on airplane mode and then switched on my wifi.
3. Tried to make a call and it failed.
4. Called telkom tech support and they have no idea what wifi calling is.

No call goes through. It fails. Because my signal is so bad, my calls fail even with airplane mode off.

Has anyone been able to use Telkom wifi calling?

Where did they announce this? i scrolled thru their website and nothing of the sort was mentioned. they eventually cancelled my contract due to poor coverage, now with MTN and very happy

Does anyone have any idea how to get it working, there are the options available on android as mentioned in that tweet but it just doesnt get activated?

Anyone have it working on any Samsung?

This is what was emailed to me?:

Good Day

Kindly follow the below to activate VoWIFI and Volte

How do I activate Telkom Wi-Fi calling?

First, make sure you're in a Telkom Wi-Fi Hotspot. (That shouldn't be difficult we have over 5500!)

Go to Network Settings and Turn on your Wi-Fi.

Select the wireless network '1 Telkom Connect'

Change your device's EAP-SIM method to SIM.

Save and 'connect'

Does Vo-LTE use Wi-Fi?
The definition of Vo-LTE is to support Voice calls over LTE or 4G radio. It's something similar to making calls in 2G/3G where there is no impact on calls even if you switch off the data. This is the same functionality in 4G known as Vo-LTE. ... Yes you can make Vo-LTE calls without using mobile data.

Necro post inc.

This did not work on my Samsung, this is on the S23 and S24, but using other SIMS (Telkom included), it worked.

The opposite was also true, that my sim does not work on phones that are working, meaning it was something related to my Sim/contract/number.

After being in-store, logging tickets, explaining each time that my Wi-Fi-calling is not working (and them showing me how to put it "on" on my phone and still not working got quite frustrating).

How it finally started working is when I was using the Whatsapp help and it was time for the survey, I said, my issue was not resolved (note, there is nothing in the Whatsapp help chat to sort this out at all, I was just stating my problem I wanted to be fixed in the comments on the survey). I hit the jackpot in a customer care representative and explaining the issue via email, a new ticket was created and a day later, it works on my phone now. I do not know what was enabled on my number/contract, but it was something that just needed to be "ticked" on their side (and it not the VOIP enabled, as that was enabled).
