Telkom WiMax rollout continues

Let's see they've had WIMAX spectrum for how long? And they're only now trying to aggressively roll out base stations (and 71 as opposed to Vodacom's 250+).

Yet another example of Telkom sleeping at the wheel - or is it drunk (with power).

Die Telkom Die

Interesting article this. Looks like Telkom is shifting it's target market to rural?

While Neotel will be using WiMax as its primary broadband technology, Telkom is employing WiMax as an ADSL replacement technology in regions where ADSL is not available.

Vodacom is also going with mobile WiMax, so that will be another nail in Telkodemonopolies' WiMax coffin - the existing nails have been hammered in by Telkodemonopolies itself - exorbitant pricing & pathetic rollout & only offered to hostages that aren't able to get ADSL at all whilst preventing HomeDSL<384kbits/s customers from switching to <512kbits/s WiMax.

I wouldn't be surprised if Telkodemonopolies' implementation of WiMax is a monumental failure and MTN eventually runs it [aggressively] after buying bits & pieces of Telkodemonopolies - including the monopolistic beast's WiMax spectrum allocation & licence.

Telkom's products are so poorly strucutred. They almost want you to choose the lowest option, the lowest speed, lowest cap and the lowest priced product. It doesn't make business sense at all.

I know so many people who simply go for Do Broadband option 1 even though they can afford more. But what's the point of getting a higher package if the usage allowance is so low. Also, DSL384 or DSL512 is not sufficient for video streaming - so what's the point. It's a vicious cycle keeping us back.

Telkom is essentially saying South African's are not worthy of Video - well f*** them.
