Running a 4MB line at work which has been giving a line speed of 56 Kbits/s which is just about unworkable, a fault was logged on 6/10. No one can help at the call centre and Telkom do not report back so you are left in the dark not knowing what is happening. Subsequently the whole exchange has bombed and we do not have a connection at all. Whichever Telkom line you call a loop is created and you go around from one to the next. All I do know is that Telkom are responsible for the situation and should offer us something in the meantime I was told it would take a further two weeks to repair. We can't work like this, the internet is our lifeblood in the industry we are in.
Does anybody have a suggestion or a solution. I will not phone a call centre again!!!

Telkom woes!
I thought it was spelled wuss :p

I wish I could help. The best I can suggest is to actually go to the nearest telkom office physically. We had a similar issue some time back - water damage to the cables after flooding and it took them almost a month to sort it properly - the whole neighbourhood was affected.

Welcome to the club!!

Unfortunately there is not much you can do about the crappy service from our monopoly based telecommunication company. They generally are a lot faster on service calls for businesses than they are for residential though. Is your line through telkom or through your ISP? If it is through your ISP can you not maybe get them to apply pressure from their side?
