well, if you look at the capping details, on the 3gb advanced it says once capped, local access will not be affected while international access will be throttled. On the standard it says, every cut off

you must be depressed

I'm f***ing annoyed. For R250 I should be getting at the VERY LEAST a 512k Uncapped line. But with the crappest Telecoms Company int he whole world I pay through my A$$ for 384K and 3GB(6.6GB) and then another 5GB account.

I am almost 100% sure I will be switching to the SNO when it comes, telkom can suck my balls

Got capped at just 4GB . How do they work out when to cap you and then not?

according to guys at telkom, if you download big files at a time you get capped at a much smaller amount. But if you dl small things, they cap you at a bigger amount

That seems weird since they dont realy know how big the torrent you are downloading is...

hmm, when I got my account I did 4GB is two sessions (I reinstalled windows, and did all the adobe, winamp, drivers and STEAM updates in one go. So I dont think that theory is true.

wow, that is an interesting theory which might be true ...

I am not capped yet, and I have done just under 6 gigs so far ...

I have noticed that I get capped normally after few days of more solid downloads (1+ gigs a day)

it will be nice if we can find out what the treshold is :)

now at 384 kbps one can do just over 3 gigs a day, so it will be nice to pump it up for at least 2 days before getting capped :)

I'm running a windows update Server, which downloads at least 2GB every month in addition to to email taking 3.2GB per month and we have a 3GB telkom account - we have not been capped since April 2006 but browsing slows down once we pass 10GB.

Dudes, keep it hush...its like the story of the goose that lays golden eggs.. tell your friends but keep it off the Telkom infested public forums... more importantly its killing the small ISP businesses, if everyone reads this...

OK, I'm convinced to try this out, it has not been a secret for a loooong time :) Only one question, when I go to the sign-up page, the following statement is displayed:
2GB Shaped

With this option you will be allowed 2GB shaped up- and downloads combined which will also include both local and international bandwidth. Similar to the option detailed above the allocated bandwidth will apply to a calendar month and will be reset on the first day of every month and expire on the last day of that month.

Should you reach the allocated bandwidth, you will be disconnected from accessing the Internet or mail on the ADSL network. You will still be able to access the Internet over a dialup modem making use of your TelkomInternet powered by ADSL account.

Elsewhere:
No impact to access or applications but subject to available shared bandwidth and can be subject to hard capping rules

Is this just the typical outdated page syndrome or what?
