Two days ago my 2GB account (which was at 25GBs of local usage :p) decided to switch back to "International/Blended" mode.

Actually, let me get a screenshot since it'll be a bit clearer.

As you can see: 16GB on a 2GB account.

Is this Telkom being "nice" enough to let us enjoy some international bandwidth before the hard caps set in at the end of the month, or is it a glitch with their systems? Personally, I'd say the latter.

I'm also not alone in this since I know of at least three other people on SAIX with the same "problem."

Hooha!

I hope it's not a glitch :) as I have "pushed" (unintentionally) 36Gb on a 1Gb and +-76Gb on a 3Gb this month :)

hehe... :3 Well, I'm not complaining one way or the other. As long as they don't try to charge us for their decisions/mistakes/whatever. I must say, it feels good to have real internet access though. It's just a shame that there's a little guilt involved and that it's only a matter of time until it ends.... :(

Remember that with Telkom, uncapped is not necessarily free. Expect a nice surprise in your bill :p

Sure, I can understand that for local. But to charge us for an indefinite amount of usage because of their bugger-up? I don't recall it saying anywhere in the terms & conditions that we'll be charged for going over our blended caps ;)

Yip. I also noticed that my account is staying on blended even though I went over long ago. At 9gb on my 3gb account now.

It's Telkom...end users always pay for Telkoms mistakes... :P

Ahh, "blended" the word makes me sick.

Anyway, hit it hard while it lasts.

Come whinge here if they nail you, just to make me feel better...

Same thing happened to me. I had a 3 gig account that was capped about 7 days ago and it switched back to international access yesterday morning when i rebooted my router.

Mmm a little late... :D

I also think you will be charged the R15/gig, for this "glitch", but then, thats the price it should be...

Sure, but that's for local - which they liberally, in red, bold-imprinted font, reserve the right to charge you for.

They say nothing about "blended" usage :)

I don't see how they have the "right" to charge for a mistake. It's kinda like buying a pizza at Debonairs and getting a sub, drink and another pizza thrown in and then at the end of the month getting an invoice saying you owe them for their own mistake.

Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't put it past Telkom to TRY it - that's just the Telkom we hate in all their victimising glory. But I doubt that even Telkom is stupid enough to make such a joke of themselves as to publicly and financially discriminate against its customers based on their usage and exploitation of a flaw/bugger-up/whatever on Telkom's side.

Personally, I like to think of it as everyone using broadband in this country (specifically through TelkomInternet) are like caged animals. The moment the zoo-keeper forgets to lock the cage, we run for life or death at the chance of freedom. The only people Telkom can blame for that mentality among their users is themselves.

and what if somehow telkom internet reverts your usage to local ...

you did reach capped status at some point...just be cautious!

The exact same thing happened to me JUST last night. So, what now?

I'll just make a scene at the telkom office again like last time when I downloaded 160gb local cap :P, told them that they never informed me and I didn't pay for anything but my 3gb :D

I'm going to take a chance and wing it. I've got a few d/l's lined up but if they revert to local and I will go over and get charged, it won't be that much. I'll pay cause I know I took advantage and I used the data. But I'll hope anyway!

So what then about my local? You know, that's part of the package I pay for every month?

Telkom. Haha, oh wow.
