Telkom's big shift in strategy

telkom is like the blind leading the blind, except a blind guy would at least know where he wants to go(or his guide dog).maybe someone should get them a guide dog, then again poor dog.

Die Telkom

Hehe hehe WHAHAHA!
sorry I get like this when I hear goood news :D
Down the crapper Telkom, slowly but sure as more competition comes in...

Its a bit sad because its show this mighty company has no intellectual capacity.

They have enjoyed success because of their monopoly status but that's all.

Absolutely. They have never bothered to stay competitive or run a tight ship because they could write their own paycheck by increasing rates to what they wanted. Now that they facing serious competition for the first time the cracks are showing. Whats more management is weak and living in the dark ages.

To quote the words of warren Buffett "You should invest in a business that even a fool can run because someday a fool will"
In other words if a business is great it will survive and still do well even if an idiot is running it. But if you need to worry about the business when you know that an idiot is running it then it's not such a great business.
Take away their monopoly and Telkom is not such a great business. They are going to loose significant market share to the new players who are taking advantage of the latest technology.

To try change direction or go into new ventures that is not their core business will be disastrous. I look forward to watching them bleed.

Telkom as a majority shareholder would have been a catastrophe as somethings are and somethings are not for sale, what it takes to create a positive corporate identity for a
broad audience of customers who have been abused for years by the Telkoms and Eskoms
won't be easily convinced to team up with what most probably will be a tasteless display
of lack of taste and quality as the enteprise will be structurally hindered by state owned
ownership and creativity and free spirits won't be part of required management skills and in stead filled by people who have no affinity nor talent to make something out of nothing regardless the availibility of a substantial amount of money.

Teaming up and be a minority shareholder will only increase the chance to create and survive and establish a brand which understands and delivers and get a faithful customer base which should be a realistic goal when one only looks what SABC has to offer and overall more positives than negatives can be expected
