I have used 6GB before being capped for the last 4 odd months (maybe more). However Telkom stated at ICASA complaints hearing that this will not be continuing after 1 Nov. Nothing is guaranteed. This month Telkom's usage data seems very mixed up so it is uncertain what will happen.
I'm in the process of filling out my ADSL application. I only chose Telkom based on their soft-cap advantage. But if this is going to materialise I'll rather take my business to another ISP, rental and all. How definite do you guys think this is? (that's softcapping is ending)
Sure they should inform there "Soft Cap" user that the service is going to end. I only got mine at the begining of this month oh well gonna see how much I can dload before getting capped
It looks like their new policy from 1 Nov is to limit your account to 3GB for blended use (i.e. mixed local and international access) and then allocate you a new IP for local only access.
so far i've only downloaded locally from the SAIX news server. But Telkom sees it as Blended. I haven't been on International except to browse and check emails. So i assume my local only starts counting once ive blown the blended cap. What use is that?? I dont have and i dont want a Telkom Email address and i have to manage and update my website every few days or so. Local is only good for downloading, but what use is it that you have to get through your normal 3GB cap before you can really start downloading...at a price...
I cant wait for my 2 year contract to end so i can move to a better ISP. Telkom was one of the worst decisions i have made in my entire life.
All that for a 4Mb line...
well what can u actually do local there is no decent local download sites or anything so it will be a waste... even DC++ sa server that use to be running has died out so yea wats the use anymore. when is out service in this country gonna improve?
They need to increase the cap and stop being stingy , we can barely browse for 1month on a 3gb. they need atleast to push it to a 10gig. I hope to see improvments when neotel comes out or even before so telkom could keep customers but they would only do that if they were a little smart
