Temp inside a fridge

I'll look at that option later but I rely on 4g for internet connectivity. Some times it is not reliable when the power is out for a long time.

I'm guessing you'll have the same problem when your mini ups for your fibre runs out of power...

Thats where the HassIO part comes in to play.

I can like to have history :p

^ Bedroom thermostat

I have 2 x TH16's connected to Swamp coolers. To monitor temp and turn off if too low.

take a plastic cup fill it halfway with water and freeze.
Once frozen put a coin on top.

if it defrost the coin will sink and you know food maybe spoiled even if the water freezes again

We use to do this when you go on holiday in the days we still had power. When you get back you could see if the power went off. If the coin is in the bottom you knew food might have spoiled.

I know this is the time of IOT and smart homes but R300 will get you a min max thermometer you can just stick on a refrigerator shelf.

And how exactly is it gonna tell me when I was away for a weekend that the food inside might be no good?

1st world problems need 1st world solutions because we live in a 3rd world country.

By telling you how hot the fridge got.

Oh and that doesn't help either.
This morning the moment I opened the Freezer the alarm went off. Food was still frozen. :p
Will literally have to freeze the thermostat sensor in a cup of water.
"Average temperature over time" might be a better alert

Looking for something that works with HassIO that can monitor and log temperature inside a fridge?

I know Wifi doesn't work but has anyone tried Zigbee or another solution?
Yea the faraday cage that contains the insulation is a problem

Gonna have to run a wire out

Can jager freeze
Not in a regular freezer. But you don't need something to freeze, you just need it to be at - x C. Solid or liquid, all the same way of transferring energy, maybe a liquid will even be better. On the plus side, you have something to ease the loadshedding blues other than frozen water

Did not think of something like this maybe i should get a system to put in the old peoples fridge

So i know it's safe if invited over for dinner

But i would ideally need a solution that works like the apple tags work but for temp so i can know the meat was lying on the counter /sink

And thus not safe for human consumption

Could get pricey

And naturally an excuse for this thing that come in meat packages lately
