Hey Guys,

Not sure if this has posted before but if you've received a speeding fine in the post and you can't work out the exact location of where the camera that got you is / was situated then you can check on the top left hand side of the picture they took and the co-ordintaes are there. Put these into google earth or your GPS unit and that's the exact location where the camera was sitting.

Tried it on all my fines now and it's 100% accurate. :D

Cool.. I never knew that.

Thanks for the heads up, this could be very useful, especially when the vehicle is driven by more than one driver and no one can remember who it was. :) (particularly if we don't recognize the road names :o )

100% accurate is pushing it a bit, a typical car gps is only at best accurate to about 5m. Don't know what the cops use to determine their position, but assuming it also is accurate to 5m, you could get the location wrong by up to 10m!

:D Not that any of this matters really.

Well i used Google earth now and it got it right to the bush the person was hiding in so maybe don't use the car GPS then...

I've noticed that the GPS coordinates provided by my GPS device differs completely from the position in Google Earth by more that 36 kilometers - how is this possible. I tested it, because someone else told me about it and now i've seen it for myself. Curious ...

I saved the location, to see the gps coordinates and then i retyped those numbers exactly in google, except i didnt use the little degree symbol, but i typed it like this

11.111111E, 22.22222W

I'll try it again later!

That could be a huge thing....

there are degrees minutes and seconds... so 60 seconds in a minute, and 60 minutes in a degree... so you're taking a degree.60.60 base number and converting it to a degree.100 base number.. there will be inconsistencies with that.
