Hi,

I would be grateful for some assistance! Its a bit of a long story so please bear with me. I live in the UK and have for the last 20 years. My Mum needs some surgery and I would like to be able to stay with her in SA for the duration and some of the recovery. I work from home in the UK so I'm set up for broadband. However my company are quite strict about how I connect so I would need to bring my laptop and they insist I use a CAT5 cable and plug directly into the 'homehub'(don't ask. It took me ages to get then to agree that I could use VPN!).

Here it is possible to rent office space on a short term basis with broadband, is this possible in SA(Kwazulu-Natal midlands)? What would the costs be? If not what would be my best /cheapest way of connecting up bearing in mind that I need to be connected for 8 hrs a day?!

I haven't asked work yet if its OK but I would like to know if what I am trying to do is feasible and doesn't cost my entire earnings!

Thanks

Can cost as little as R153 plus usage at ~R70 a GB.
Get the connection arranged now though, as ADSL may not be available in your area. Can check on www.telkom.co.za to see if your mom's telephone number is ADSL enabled.

Costs would depend on how much bandwidth you require and how fast you need the connection to be.

If it's only you, you don't really need an office, you could work from home or wherever you'll be living.

3G is fairly cheap and quick to get if you don't need too much data.
