Tennis Tips

Lol at all of these pro tennis players suggesting coaches and what not for a social tennis player.

What you want to do is to get a tennis racket, some balls and someone willing to play tennis with you.

Now go play tennis.

Already doing this, imo coach is still needed to get correct swing and form otherwise your game will suck

No.
If you play you will improve.

I agree completely,

However you will improved and then completely limit yourself, things like where to put your feet, how to serve - even how to hit a proper forehand and follow through don't come naturally.

Its like saying put someone in front of a punching bag and they will learn kung fu, theres a slight chance they're ip man and will develop a style but theres a bigger chance they will sprain their wrist from punching like an idiot

youtube is your friend/coach :)
plenty of coaches on there that will give you good tips and show you how

but like anything, practice makes perfect :)
Maybe find a club in your area and join them for social play, as it will help you get more familiar with different styles of play

btw, also started playing recently after many years and enjoying it thoroughly

When can I expect your first Wimbledon appearance?
Go play tennis and stop acting like a pro.

NOOB!!

Wear a short white dress. Shave your legs also.

- As everyone has said. Focus on stroke and consistency before worrying about hitting the ball harder.
- Try find someone better than you to play with (they'll secretly hate it but you'll improve a lot more).
- Play mini games with them such as only using the inner 4 squares, round the world etc
- It's just going to come down to same advice you'd get for anything. The more you play, the better you'll get (as long as you keep playing with people equal or preferably better than you)

+1 to that. I stagnated for a few years playing against my normal 4 or 5 mates, a few matches against a former Natal schools player and I've improved a fair bit. First time I played him he beat me 6-2, 6-0. Now I take a few sets off him and every set is close

Trick is finding that person, I have an aquantence who used to be in the top 300 in the world - alas the person is unwilling to teach me

Make sure that when you find a coach his name is not Bob Hewitt...
Also remember to stretch after practice :)
