Agreed, their statements in the press clearly illustrate their intentions. Telkom milks us(jersey cow re helkom)... and the GOV milk Telkom a perfect little symbiotic relationship. :(
 
Methinks the esteemed minister must be queried publically.
Q1 = You have failed to meet your own deadlines, why have you not stepped down from your position ?
Q2 = Why do you not comment on the allegations and insinuations being thrown around in the media, local and international ?
Q3 = How does the fact that governmint owns 38% of the public telecoms company help the country ?
Q4 = What is your plans for the future of this country ?

Now if only we could attract some with the balls and the right level of clout to accomplish this... Anybody on speaking terms with someone in GOV?

everything i have heard (plenty) supports this story and there are very real concerns that the convergence bill does not address this issue - essentially the independence and financing of ICASA and the division of powers between ICASA and the DoC- adequately

[pet theme] i think everyone is far too accepting of the ministerial "clarification" and that it has the effect that VANS may not self-provide. if the new vans licence terms and conditions do not allow self-provision i believe they will be in conflict with the Telecommunications Act - hoping to convince someone to take this up at the time. even ICASA has made indirect reference to this by saying that the Minister would need to get an amendment to the Telecomms Act through parliament in order to change the fact that VANs may self-provide[/pet theme]
 
If you ask me (which you didn't but I'll give muh 2 cents anyway hehe) the VANS shoulda stood together and challenged the minister in a court of law. She totally fukced everyone around - who in their *right mind* says 1 day before a MAJOR transformation that the main ingredient for that transformation cant take place?

ICASA certainly has a difficult task , Perhaps They should explain the reason why there is the "real lack of co-operation" between ICASA & DOC

Must we also send 446 petitions/complaints to Doc ??

If this can solve the problem ,it can be done .

lol i just had some nice 60's style images.. old VW kombi, banners, flowers, hellkom logos and loooots of smoke coming out of the open windows.. ;)

My direct communication skills are due to a lack of verbal restraint. They could ideally be a lot more verbal but for the simple reason of not wanting to have my time wasted by useless litigation I kind of water down my comments.. so multiply comments on MyADSL by 10, and envision someone ravaged by bemused rage.
 
It’s very clear to me now, with Ivy at the helm we’re screwed, plain and simple. You can kiss your cheap broadband good bye. I think we should direct our concerns to the only dude in government who knows how to run a country, Finance Minister Trevor Manual. I recon we should get hold of this dudes contact details and make our concerns very clear to him.

That’s my 2 cents.
 
Why can this issue not be presented to The President himself? I know he has many other things to do and that certain departments and bodies are supposed to take care of this, but seeing as they are not doing their jobs maybe Mr President can help out. He made it clear that he wanted it done. Now it must simply be done. Finish and klaar, Right? Surely the President of South Africa has some authority over matters of this kind. It would result in hundreds of thousands of jobs! Like the call centre stuff!

Because he's never here. Besides, what good would it do complaining to someone who spends R300 Million of our taxes on a private jet? Does anyone else see a pattern here??
 
Maybe if we send him 461 odd submissions of how crappy his COM department is he will sit up and take notice.
