Is anyone else having slow download speeds at the moment I'm currently on a 4 meg line with Telkom but my speed drops randomly one minute it will be at full speed then the next it will drop to 0.4 kb/s does anyone now what's going on it seems to be only my downloads that are effected and the occasional webpage

having similar issues. @ 4am my pings are what they used to be (20ms local) but as soon as it gets to ~9am, it drops down to ~100ms and my 10mb line maxes out at ~1mb
I initially assumed it was ISP, but it appears to be something on the telkom network

does anyone know how to fix the problem, would downgrading to a lower speed help cos I'm sure we'd get faster downloads on a 2 meg line than we are now on a 4 meg

This on a 2meg line - and I've just pulled the trigger on a upgrade [ha ha.ha] to their 4meg line... WTF(lip) is going on?

And now - at risk of having a conversation with myself - for the first time since I can remember checking Speedtest, my upload speed is faster than my download speed... Joy.
Download Speed: 329 kbps (41.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 431 kbps (53.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 21 ms

I'll bet this has been happening only since the past 3 - 4 weeks....since 8ta & Telkom combined. Something has gone radically wrong since then and Telkom won't spill the beans!
So here I am, freshly face-palmed, hat in hand....
It appears I blew through my alloted data-cap somewhere in the last few days. A new record for the household, to be soft-capped so early. Only occurred to me to check this morning... [blush].
Topped-up and speeds back to where they should be. Apologies to Telkom.
I'm off to the naughty corner now...
