It really, really, really... really isn't a joke. There are videos of the queues outside Tesla stores... Google is your friend. Tesla have already taken 130 000 deposits. That's $130M or R2Bn so far today.

Spain has the highest unemployment rate in the entire EU currently, with two of the other PIIGS, Portugal and Italy, sitting 4th and 5th respectively.

Ireland is slightly better off in 11th place (better than mighty France no less), but is still sitting at roughly double what it was in 2008 ... "two years of recession" indeed, the aftereffects are still being felt and will continue to be felt.

Note GDP can hit record highs just off a government spending billions in borrowed money on military upgrades for example, it doesn't mean the man in the street has one extra cent to spend. Generally I imagine people without jobs don't buy Teslas.

Granted Ireland is showing signs of recovery, but they're far from recovered.

You seem to forget that the unemployment grant is probably higher in Ireland than the base salary in Poland ! I throw fantasist numbers but probably a third of the employed in Ireland can afford a Tesla while probably less than 10% of Polish employed people can do the same.

It makes it a relevant market for Tesla (as well as Spain, France), they most likely seek to sell a few tens of thousands of units per country, not millions.

The consumers are there. Calling Ireland one of the poorest is an exaggeration.

They are also opening offices in CT. Flip I'd buy a Tesla 3 tomorrow if I had the money.
 
Range and battery deterioration is my biggest issue with these cars at the moment.

325km claimed range will probably translate to something like 225km under normal driving conditions and less than 200km after some years. I'd consider leasing an EV though, you don't sit with a car at the end of 5 years that has lost so much value because the range has dropped, whereas a normal car can still do it's original range even after 10+ years...

We need some sort of battery replacement/upgrade/maintenance plan or a better battery technology that will give you 500km range after 10 years which will probably happen in the next 5 years.
 
A thousand dollars for a deposit and you still need another car for your long distance trips. Definately only for the super wealthy.
 
I'd love this for my work commute.
Could probably persuade work to install a charging station...
 
So the entry level will start at R515K($35k)that is for the rwd single motor lower kwh output battery pack. Then u get the awd double motor medium kwh output battery pack which is really the one u want/need,that will likely cost u r735k($50k).Then if the battery pack fails u after the warranty,u will have to fess up half of what the car cost u to fix it. U will only get the car mid 2018,if u lucky as we all know how deadline perfect they are. I really dont like the big lcd. A smaller 10' tablet size with an electric tachmeters behind the wheel is what i like

The model 3 can really shape electric cars for the future,if they can be higly successful, so everyone that buys now can help shape tesla future in creating even cheaper built cars. I really hope they can make a success of it,then maybe oneday i can drive an affordable electric car.

I've had my Golf GTI for five years now and realised yesterday with this announcement that it hasnt done one trip further than 200km in a single sitting.

I bet this will be true for most people saying the above about long distance.

Use an aeroplane or travel over multiple days....or Just let it recharge while you have a burger which is exactly what most people do on a long trip with a petrol car.
