Hi folks

It is time again to test all the broadband services in South Africa and rate their performance. The testing procedure will be very easy and non-intrusive. We need as many testers as possible, so please consider joining the testing team.

Please mail [email protected] to be involved in this round’s testing with the following information:

Which Broadband Service you use (like ADSL 384)
Your location
Your signal strength (if applicable)
Your ADSL ISP (If applicable)

Just to encourage participation there will be a few prizes on offer to testers :D

Regards,

RPM

what do you mean testing rpm?
like what does it involve doing (besides emailing the information you asked)?
thanks! :)

Hi Mas

You simply need to install a small automated testing program and mail the URL to me. It will run a few tests and record the results. Apart from that you must just do a few web based speed tests and mail the results to me (will take about 10 minutes).

Thats it :D

RPM

You just need to run an email attachment called I love you. Thats all
:D

That's the old version. The new one is "I hate Telkom". :D Come to think of it... I probably would open that :D

Hi guys

Thanks a bunch for all the emails so far. Please keep them coming. We need as many testers as possible!

Hi Fergus

The 1st of September is the most likely date. I would like to start ASAP as I will have to analyze the results before iWeek for a presentation, but capped users do pose a problem. Will see what the feedback looks like.

RPM

This only for broadbanders? Or do you need dail-up stats as well?

I know, I know, should have upgraded to BB long ago, but the costs are still not justified, even for a small company! Telephone bill is still lower than ADSL cost!

Dialup users should be allowed to take part just so that we can get a decent set of comparitive results. Many of the forum users compare some of the 'broadband' services to isdn etc and this might be the right time to get the actual figures.
