You can use any domain that you have control of, for google apps. (You need to modify your MX records or upload a specific HTML page to your site to verify that you are the owner.)

Good idea about the forum, although with so many hosting providers, it's likely to become a spamfest :(

We don't want a spam fest now ;)
Great offer you have for the myadsl members for March,

Can you share some more details about it please?

With only 25 posts to your name, they're going to think you're my sock puppet...:D (he's not, guys, honest!)

I started Texo: ethical webhosting a little over a year ago, because I had around 10 clients (whose websites I had designed) in need of hosting.

I had tried all the usual, well-known hosts in SA, as well as some more obscure ones when I finally gave up on finding a local host who could offer a decent service at a good price. (Support and service are always more important than paying a few rands extra, IMHO)

So, Texo was born after two years of moving some of my clients from host to host. I own the server, which is plugged into a huge datacentre in Los Angeles, and have had ZERO downtime in the last 14 months, apart from 50 minutes of planned maintenance (upgraded hardrive and added redundant power supply).

So there you have it -- look forward to welcoming you to Texo.

ETA: After all that waffling on about how great Texo is, I realised that you were asking about the Special Offer for MyADSL members... :o

Okay, thanks! :p I'm definitely not your sock puppet, I'm teraside that decided to adapt to my alter ego, that's all ;) :D :p

I really like your hosting packages texo, okay, now I'm sounding like a sock puppet! :D ;) :p

But seriously, in comparison with the rest, you seem like you're headed in a good direction, I hope the forum members take this opportunity, it's pretty cool! :D

Also looking

Hey Texo, also had a look at Texo for hosting a website and I must say I am quite impressed. But, not only a skeptic but also a firm believer in "if it looks to good to be true....." (not implying anything pse believe me!!!)

Anyway, a question or ten. 1. Are there any "other" costs apart from the monthly R40? 2. Your offer to myADSL users are free registration for the first year so am I right to say the only cost for the first year is R40pm? 3. How much is the registration fee py? 4. How are payments made? (Very important - EFT possible??)

Hi sach70

1. Are there any "other" costs apart from the monthly R40?
None at all - no setup fees, either.

2. Your offer to myADSL users are free registration for the first year so am I right to say the only cost for the first year is R40pm?
That's right -- MyADSL members get a free .co.za domain, and apart from the R40 per month, the ONLY other charge is R50 to renew your domain at the end of the first year (12 months after you sign up) and annually thereafter.

3. How much is the registration fee py?
You pay exactly what Uniforum charges: R50.00 per year. We don't charge any fees for renewing your domain.

4. How are payments made? (Very important - EFT possible??)
My lovely wife :) Gaye will email you an invoice at the end of every month, for the next month, and you can pay by EFT. We don't do contracts or debit orders: don't like them, don't want to use them, and never will.

Another sock-puppet??

Well Texo, now you have another sock puppet! OOPS, just kidding master....

Anyway guys, I have signed up with Texo and were, and are still, very pleased with the service I have received. I actually applied on a Sat afternoon and expected some reply by the Mon. And would you believe it, by Sat I received my first comms and by Sun afternoon everything was completed and working (on Texo's side). Still sorting thing out on my side.

A big thanks to Texo and his (team?)

A big thanks to Texo and his (team?)

Thanks for the kind words, sach70!

Let's not beat around the bush: Texo is not a huge hosting company, but neither are we a one-man-show pretending to be a huge company.

I run the company with my lovely wife, Gaye, taking care of the accounts and my brother-in-law, Ian, running things in the USA and taking care of after-hours support. (When I sleep, which is seldom:) he's awake and can take of client queries)

Thanks for signing up, and I hope we will continue to exceed your expectations.

Texo what are the charges if you exceed the transfer limits?

Hi Syndyre

The idea of charging for extra bandwidth has never sat well with me, because it creates an extra worry for our clients.

Bandwidth usage is something we monitor continuously, but it is extremely unlikely that any one of our clients will exceed 8GB in one month. But, if this should happen (which would be great, because we love hosting successful websites and watching our clients grow) the amount exceeded will be deducted from the following month's allocation. We will NEVER suspend an account for exceeding bandwidth.

If it becomes clear that a client is exceeding their allocated bandwidth regularly -- and by a significant amount -- then we will work with that client to design a custom package. But we're not talking huge amounts of cash here: bandwidth is cheap in the USA, and Ian has things under control over there.
