Amazon have once again replaced my kindle
I bought one from them many years ago, this is now my 4'th kindle, I paid for the first one only.
What an awesome company
did it break?

Kindle #1 Got soaked in egg (all but keyboard button worked) then around 3 months later I took it apart to see if I could get the keyboard button working and that broke it. In warranty replacement.
Kindle #2 lines and white spaces after getting sat on. In warranty replacement.
Kindle #3 (bought in 2013 btw) lines and white bottom 1/4 of screen. I did nothing to break it. Out of warranty replacement.
Return process I have used each time is to contact Amazon via chat, verify my cc details and postal address after troubleshooting then I have to send the old one back. I just send via SAPO and it costs around R150 each time. New kindle usually arrives around 2 days after I open the chat with them.

Usual guarantee on them is a year.
Stripey lines on screen seems to be a good way to get a replacement.
My wife's as well but I read around 2 to 3 books a week whereas she reads around 1 a month.

Bugger, mine is going strong. Have dropped it a few times without issue (think cover, also from Amazon, helps a bit, heh), friend of mine cracked the screen on her Kindle, Amazon replaced it out-of-warranty for no charge. At least, that's what she said.

Thought the charging cable was faulty, so they loaded $10 credit to my account so I could buy a new one.
Turned out it wasnt faulty, just needed to be charged a bit longer as it was completely dead.
I told them and they said I can use the $10 for whatever else I want.

Except with Amazon the car is just a tool to get you to buy more books. Once the car maker sells you the car the sale is done. So they can't do that.

I am now very very excited to see what actually comes.
My order says I am receiving a kindle paperwhite 6.
My last kindle was a kindle 4

Oooh, if you get the Paperwhite, let us know what you think, have been considering a Paperwhite for awhile now, but haven't pulled the trigger just yet!
