So I had a Blackberry bold and always said the Iphone is crap because it doesn't have BBM and you have to pay for internet... then I got an Iphone 3gs, man was I wrong! From there I was only saying bad things about blackberry and how amazing everything is on iphone (browser, OS etc)

Was very hyped for the Iphone 5 and even argued with my Android buds how great it is. Sad to say but then they opened my eyes to what the Iphone 5 actually is. EXACTLY THE SAME AS MY Iphone 3GS - but with improved components - nothing new out of the box.

So happy to say that upgraded today to Samsung S3. Thanks Apple for showing me that nothing new can be done over 4 years (except for couple of software improvements)

fanboi now of both apple and android, let's see what happens.

LOL

Yeah a lot of people were waiting to see the iphone 5, when they saw it they went to get a S3

In the same way that the i7 processor is exactly the same as a Pentium I processor but with improved components.

Between the 4S and the 5? Very little.

Between the 3Gs and the 5? Tons. The screen alone is worth it.

Wow more really bad analogies, a decent desktop CPU is required to run newer games and software otherwise it's pointless.

Phone CPUs while getting faster is very welcomed, it is not necessary. How many required apps run on the iPhone 5 but do not run on the 3GS? I assume none.

Why do these iSheep come up with such bad analogies? To try convince themselves?

Oh but the iPhone is like a Porsche you see, problem is, Porsches don't run on Mazda motors.

Don't compare your iKak to Porsches or i7s.

Reminds me of religious people saying that God is like water, water can be a gas, a fluid or a solid, like God can be the holy trinity.

iPhone or Android, doesn't matter. At least you've gotten over the irrational Blackberry hype

Why do you comment on things you have to make assumptions for?

I'm not sure I understand - there are apps that I use on my new iPad that don't perform nearly as well on my iPad2, and in some cases not at all on my first gen iPad.

Hey CoolBug ... it is awesome how you keep a cool head

Do not agree

In the scenario of comparing 2 mobile phones, a processor is one component of many that work together to deliver a result.

That result has only changed a tiny little bit from the iphone 3GS to the iphone 5. That's what the OP is saying, and I tend to agree, although I am not really all too clued up with apple devices.

I apologise, I did say that I was making an assumption, I also did say required apps. Are there any required apps that don't run on the 3GS?

My point is, desktop CPUs need to stay ahead for all sorts of productivity and work related reasons, lots more than say an iPad. Which is why I think these are poor misleading analogies.

On a side note, it's not that I'm entirely against iProducts, I sometimes advice people to check them out depending on the person, what I am against is this unicorn mentality and when people mislead others, intentionally or un intentionally

That's not true, the retina display is awesome as well. I used to hate on Apple just as much as a lot of people here, until I got an iPad 3. Their devices do have their place in the market, especially if simplicity if what you're looking for. I also have a Galaxy S2 and a Nokia N8. All of these are great devices, and all of them are better than any Blackberry currently available.

Your assumption is incorrect. There are apps, especially games but also other apps which benefit from and even require a faster CPU. They simply don't run on slower CPUs or run very slowly. For example most new Cave iPhone games require a new CPU. Then there is video. MKV 720p H264 video when played back in software requires a lot of horsepower. Believe me, faster CPUs are beneficial.

Here is just one of the games which doesn't run on the 3GS:

Never heard of this analogy. I agree that it's a bad one but I gather it's one for the kids.

Yeah 3GS to 5 is a bit of a long shot. I understand where you're coming from. That retina display is pretty indeed, and their UI just works, very smoothly too. Good option for someone who just wants a phone that works, but bells & whistles are nice too.

I use my iPad more and more for work each passing day and when it comes to editing photos and video, using apples tools, there is a noticeable difference between the new iPad and the previous generation one.

Each new iOS sees plenty of features that are not supported on previous generation devices.

Fair enough. Imo you acted hastily though. You could have had some hands-on time with it before deciding.

Anyway, aren't all phones just updates of other phones, including the Galaxy S3? It's just a question of how much they've updated them. Very few phones have genuinely revolutionary features anymore.
