The 200,000+ km thread

The time is nigh for a thread about issues with your Corsa B to be started, that is judging by the amount of Corsa B threads there are around here

I do have a thread I started late last year about overheating, turned out to be the thermostat and the waterpump, other than that the engine has never been opened. The most expensive repair was the clutch which is a wear and tear item anyway.

And here I thought yours may have been one of the rarer cases of not having issues, I guessed I missed that thread

:D Try to keep up with the number of Polo issues on the forum and you'll see that people just like to pick on the Corsa. I saw one where someone changed brake discs four times within a space of 50k km's, you'll never see that with "Wir leben autos".

Lol true, I wanted to start a thread yesterday asking why are we seeing the spike in Polo Vivo issues all of a sudden where the Corsa B ones have simply disappeared. At least when a "Wir leben autos" car has an issue it's a genuine non-life-threatening one compared to the "das autos" cars

The "Vorsprung durch Technik" thread also has a lot of problems if you read a few pages of it. Seems to be mostly engine/gearbox issues on older units, and the occasional electronic issue.

+1 The majority of complaints on that thread always points to engine and gearbox issues

My daily 2011 Toyota Auris ticked over to 200 000km the other day.

What a reliable car that does its duties with no fuss at all and I got it at 159 000km 13 months ago.

No major issues to date, just normal services.

that is quite strange, as I imagined they'd sell in their millions here.
maybe it was too expensive initially?
They do sell but I think the Yaris, Auris and even the horrible Etios just sold better. Iam sure there are a couple around with thst mileage on them.

Yeah these cars can sell high, though I wasn't in the mood to look for a buyer since the car is in the Vaal and I'm in jhb so it's difficult for me to go there to show off the car to potential buyers.

Biggest none regular service item was valve stem seals, first and only time head was removed. RINGS ARE FACTORY. I used 5w40 fully synthetic shell oil.

Other than that the slave cylinder rubbers were replaced when they started leaking and the alternator was replaced (at the time I didn't know you can just change the brushes)

Starter motor was changed too.

Factory parts that's surprisingly still on the car:
Fuel pump
Front discs and rear drums including shoes never been redone.
Brake booster
Coil pack
All engine and gearbox mounts never been replaced.
Tie rods and ends

That's it? 500k with no rings or bearing changes, damn that is impressive. How did you drive her? Conservatively just normally?

A old Hyundai? I almost can't believe it.

thats what you get when you got no computers and no electronics to worry about.

wrote off exactly that kind of Hyundai.:crying:

was told out of all the Hyundai and Kia's, its the most reliable.
if you look after it, and change oil and service it properly.

the F/I ones not so much unfortunately.

Mom's old 90's Corolla clocked in at Half a bar last month.

Does 700 odd KM a week. The only that has ever gone wrong is a head gasket.
