Fiat FTW!!! My wifes Fiat Palio has 209k on the clock, was a 1 owner car with like 38k on the clock when she bought it about 12-13 years ago and still going strong. Cambelt has snapped twice with no internal damage and the clutch has been done once, has a new radiator and water bottle due to wear and tear. Other than that its been general maintenance, its on its 3rd set of tyres, had 15 inch wheels on, we changed to 13 inch a few years ago after she hit a pothole for the second time and rim straightening can be expensive hence the 13s, brakes pads have been done 2 or 3 times, its been in 1 slight front end fender bender.

My Nissan 1400 has a service history up to 180k which was last updated in the 2000s somewhere and its about to go back to 60k so im assuming its around the 360k mark seen as its a 1995 or so model which only goes up to 99999km and then back to zero. so yea 360 or maybe even 460k LOL. Don't know if its the original motor, only bought it a year ago, my mechanic who did the clutch 2 weeks ago reckons compression is low and it may need an overhaul soon, it does smoke a bit which makes sense and it is a bit heavy on fuel but there are not known to be very efficient.

Yep, still have the Uno and its getting some work done to it.

Good to read that your Wife Palio is still going strong and now currently sitting at over 200 000km.

Those Nissan 1400 are special as they keep on going on without dying.
 
Here is my VW, was easy to clock 200K, no major repairs only normal services, still has original clutch and windscreen.

My 1996 Kadett 200iS did 398k when I sold it. I really wanted to see it turn over at 400k.

My uncles Monza GSI was on 340k when it was stolen. My sisters 1993 Cub 1.4 was on 310k when a extractor fan on the roof of a restaurant fell on to it in strong winds. (damn Cape Town weather) it caved the roof and bonnet in so it was written off.

Straight 4. The suggestion was remove engine and gearbox, and remove gearbox on the bench for the clutch. The main reason is that to get the gearbox off from underneath the car, you need to drop the subframe, which is a nasty job, and it needs careful alignment when replaced. It's an all-day job.

Something still isn't right, I did 204km daily, from the vaal to sandton, hitting peak sandton traffic almost every day. Each clutch lasted 250k km. The second clutch was actually not finished but the thrust bearing failed.

Mine was almost entirely Sandton traffic, no open road. My average fuel consumption on a 2l car during the week was over 14 l/100km.

I actually did have one clutch fail - it sheered off on the freeway.

my 2010 polo tdi has joined you guys in the 200k km club. currently on around 200 800km. just had a service. i am slightly concerned because i noticed that it sometimes starts smoking. i wondering if my injectors are going.
 
This SA man’s Isuzu KB bakkie has clocked 1,7 million kilometres

Gerhard du Toit of Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape says his KB bakkie has clocked more than 1,7 million kilometres.

The 74-year-old says he has used the bakkie (which he's dubbed “Roadrunner”) for his courier business for the past 15 years. His brother bought the vehicle in 1997 as a demo with 7 000 km on the clock.

You have to understand that I treat my bakkie very well and talk to my bakkie every day. I ask the bakkie to drive nicely and tell the bakkie that I rely on it, to get me where I need to be,” said Du Toit.

Du Toit uses the vehicle to travel between Oudtshoorn and George twice a day.

“I stop and start the bakkie between 80 to 100 times per day. This is as I drop off the parcels or pick up parcels at my various clients in the two towns. I have had to replace my front seat covers twice already, but I think Roadrunner may still outlive me one day,” he said.

Civic diesel filter every 2nd (30k km) service. I don't get why people say never run your car until empty. Makes no sense to me.

It makes more sense to run it empty every now and then at least so that the dirt and muck gets picked up in small doses and caught by the filter which gets replaced regularly.
When you don't, and happen to run a low level then all the accumulated rubbish gets caught all at once and can( and does) cause a blocked filter.

But in all fairness petrol stations these days have very good filtration systems so the fuel going in is much cleaner than it was in times gone by.
 
A friend of mine's E46 323i had 430000km with minimal work done, recently swopped the engine out with the 3 Liter from the 330i.
