How about a guest network?
Just got off the phone with Scoop regarding <https://scoop.co.za/ubiquiti-amplifi-hd-dual-band-meshpoint-afi-p-hd.html> and apparently they don't need a cable connection, but they are more expensive ie only a single unit not three as per Airties.

I can change the location of the 5GHz wireless fibre router and then plug in a cable to an airties unit in the same room. Then its placing the other units in the roof space so they can mesh over the rest of the house. Seems the way to go...

My guess is that is limited deal - maybe excess stock they have, before it increases to between R3.8k and R4k.

I always thought that was only the extension and you needed the main router bit ? https://scoop.co.za/ubiquiti-amplifi-hd-dual-band-router-5xge-afi-r.html

Did they say you can use just that part though?
Isn't that just a repeater / booster / amplifier ?
 
For what's worth, AirTies have surpassed 25 million units https://www.prnewswire.com/news-rel...ith-service-providers-globally-300660714.html globally.

It's not really a channel product, which is why you're not going to find it on the shelf - but it has been selected as the preferred mesh by Telkom, Vox, Orange, Vodafone, AT&T, Swisscom, Singtel etc.

I think value wise as an 3 node AC1600 mesh kit (300sqm), you'll battle to beat it @ a sub R4,000.00 price
 
Very unreliable product.

Unifi is what you want if you are looking for this kind of coverage.

The act is merely that they cheaper and their returns policy is good if units don't work. If you looking to buy a few 3-pack units, prive matters.
 
I'm with Dolby on this one.

25 Million ppl can't be wrong, and mine arrive tomorrow. Will revert to thread how they worked.
 
I've been running 3 Airties in my house now for 4 months, and I'm still impressed with them.

Extremely simple to setup, throughput is amazing. I have a 100mbps Fibre and doing speedtests I get 100mbps from my laptop and P10 Plus. Kids have cheap phones and only get 35mbps. Which would indicate the wireless client is critical in the process.

I'd recommend them anytime.
 
Since upgrading my router I get about 96mbps from phone/laptop over WiFi and hardwired server. Much better than I was getting but nowhere near the limits of the AC WiFi. I've also wired up the other 2 access points as well, doesn't really make a difference to me at the moment though.
 
Im thinking of ordering a triple pack from Takealot. Not 100% sure how to do the setup though.... Do I plug on into my router and configure the SSID on the rest? Or can I wirelessly pick up my router and just extend my network?

Turn off router WiFi. Let Airties do WiFi. First one will plug into your router. 2 and 3 will connect to 1 wirelessly. There is an app to help you setup.

You can't/wouldn't "extend" your existing WiFi. Best to replace with these and turn off the WiFi on your existing router completely. You can basically just install the app on your phone, plug in the first one and set it up, then plug in the others and follow instructions to pair.

You could, in theory, extend off the Airties mesh with your existing devices - but the AirTies mesh must be the backbone.
 
I bought triple pack. Connected one to my router and turned off Wifi on router. Managed to connect everything using the app but there is no internet connection (red cross next to “internet” on app) all lights are green and my network shows that all 3 nodes are connected so not sure what I am doing wrong.

What ip ranges are you using?
