The next Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio will arrive in 2026 as the firm’s most potent car to date, with power outputs nudging 1000bhp and onboard artificial intelligence that is able to tweak handling characteristics on the fly.

The next Giulia will be underpinned by parent company Stellantis’s new STLA Large platform. The structure is said to be “BEV-native”, but it can also host combustion and hybrid powertrains, like the platform Alfa Romeo is using for the new Junior crossover it has just revealed.

Stellantis boasts of the Large platform’s game-changing potential, claiming its quickest cars will hit 62mph from rest in around 2.0sec.

Alfa Romeo is rolling out limited-edition versions of its Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifogliomodels which commemorate the brand’s first-ever Mille Miglia victory in 1928. They’ll wear an all-new moniker called ‘Super Sport’, and 275 Giulias and 175 Stelvios will be created.

But before you head to the comment section with your sharpened pitchfork and strongest vocabulary, since these appear to look like nothing more than blacked-out versions with fancy badging, there are some changes worth noting to potentially reverse your opinion. Although yes, we agree they should have been painted red.

First up for the new Super Sports is extra carbon bits spread across the ‘V’ section of the scudetto and the rearview mirrors, while the iconic Teledial alloys are offered as standard and sit ahead of 'darkened' brake calipers. You’ll also spot the new ‘3+3’ lamp clusters, which work alongside full-LED matrix lights to… light the road ahead.

The cabins of both Super Sport models also gain a few new touches, including red carbon fibre along the centre console, dashboard and door cards. The front headrests will also wear their corresponding model number to prove that you absolutely do own a limited edition Alfa Romeo, while the steering wheel has been reupholstered in Alcantara and carbon. See, you’re starting to get on board, aren’t you?

Prices for the new Quadrifoglio Super Sport versions of the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio have been released, but South Africa will likely receive only a few units…

Back in May 2024, Alfa Romeo whipped the wraps off new Quadrifoglio Super Sport versions of its Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV. Now, prices for these limited-run derivatives in South Africa have been released.

Before we take a closer look at the sticker prices, it’s worth keeping in mind the Italian firm will produce just 275 units of the Giulia Quadrifoglio Super Sport and only 175 units of the Stelvio Quadrifoglio Super Sport for global consumption.

As such, South Africa seems likely to receive an extremely limited allocation – we’re thinking a number you can count on one hand. So, how much will these exclusive derivatives cost you (if they’re not all already accounted for, that is)?

Well, the rear-wheel-drive Giulia Quadrifoglio Super Sport is priced at R2 229 900, representing a R220 000 premium over the “standard” Quadrifoglio version of the high-performance sedan (which Alfa Romeo currently lists at R2 009 900 on its website, along with a seemingly outdated figure of R1 849 083 – perhaps for the prior model year – on its configurator).

Meanwhile, the all-wheel-drive Stelvio Quadrifoglio Super Sport starts at R2 508 900, which makes it R316 000 pricier than the model it’s based on. For the record, the standard Stelvio Quadrifoglio is listed on Alfa’s local website at R2 192 900, with the configurator still showing an old figure of R1 956 900.

So, what makes a Super Sport? Well, while the twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine is unchanged – as are its peak outputs of 375 kW and 600 Nm – here it combines with a mechanical limited-slip differential derived from the Giulia GTA. Alfa Romeo claims this optimises torque transfer and increases stability, agility and cornering speed.
