The Anni Dewani Murder Case

Since first raised, I've been suspicious of the procured murder story. What's conspicuously lacking is any suggestion of a motive. Still, this apparent suicide bid (if true) suggests a weak character, and that raises suspicions that perhaps he is indeed trying to avoid answering difficult questions. A real man would do everything for his wife, and in honour of her memory.
 
All you okes are quick to flame this guy, but what about the one accused who confirmed under oath that he had nothing to do with it and the police forcibly coerced him into lying about that fact.

its pretty clear the other accused would use Shrien as a contractor as an excuse so that its not their premeditated plan.

Why would the above accused claim that Shrien had nothing to do with it? By stating that, the blame falls fully on him. To entertain the conspiracy theorists out there, maybe Shriens family made under the table payments to the accused's family so that he would lie about the the original deal. Or Shrien is actually innocent. What motive would a rich indian guy have in killing his two week old pretty good looking bride? I cant see anything and havent read about possible motives.

Im not convinced, imo Shrien is completely innocent until the SAPS can pull some concrete out of this mess.

He's not rich - although he act like he is. His bussiness is actually a couple million in the red.

Remember there were 3 guys involved: Tongo (the driver) and the 2 hijackers. It is possible that one of the two hijackers, really did not know that it was a contract killing and he though he was doing a 'normal' hijacking.

I do not follow what you are trying to say. Which "other accused" ? One of the hijackers? Both?

Maybe he just decided to tell the truth as he sees it. Sometimes people just decide to come clean with what they know.

He may have thought he would inherit her money.
He may have taken our insurance on her life.
He may have been gay and just got married to please his conservative family.
Plenty motives.

1. She didn't have any to inherit - her dad said so.
2. He didn't - already checked by brit police.
3. That story was dropped as soon as the Sun (?) checked out the gay kraut.
4. All speculation. We can prefix any outlandish theory with "might". Aliens, anyone?

None of us can know, so the responsible thing is to give him the benefit of the doubt until it's proved otherwise.
 
This chap carries on like a guilty man fearful of his first "date" with Bubba. If he was innocent surely he wouldn't be fretting so much?

Your links for no. 1 to 3 above? How do you know if Dewani knew that there was no inheritance at play ?

You did not touch on the issue of the CCTV footage, nor the SMSes.

If you allegedly loved someone, would you not do ALL in your power to avenge their death and assist the police in any way you can, rather that trying to save your own ass ?
 
His new bride might have seen what she wasn't supposed to see. Or she was threatening to leave him. This obviously wasn't planned well and unfortunately it has come back to bite his butt (I'm not judging him)
 
I think the reason he tried to commit suicide is, he watched Ross Kemp on gangs at Pollsmoor prison. He knows he wouldn't survive in there. :p

You, or any of us, don't even know what the SAPS has? They're not giving us that information until they use it in court obviously. I don't know why you'd think he's completely innocent without any facts, what concrete are you basing that on?

We just don't know at the moment, but the police seem to be confident of their case. Also people keep going on as if this is any old case that some useless constable is investigating. It's a massively high profile case that has the top investigators from SAP and the Hawks on it, they're not idiots.
 
"Dewani will be extradited"

The National Prosecuting Authority is confident that murder suspect Shrien Dewani will be extradited to South Africa.

Dewani will appear in the Belmarsh Magistrate's Court on Tuesday for the start of his extradition hearing, which is expected to last three days. If the British businessman is extradited, he will stand trial for the murder of his wife Anni in South Africa.

"We are not entertaining the possibility that he may not be extradited. We don't see that as a possibility. From a legal point of view, we’re confident," NPA spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga told the Cape Times.

British media reported on Monday that the 31-year-old's lawyers will claim that their client's life would be in danger were he to be extradited and held in a South African prison.

Dewani was sent to a mental hospital in Somerset after an apparent suicide attempt in February.



with all the recent behavior of our police, i highly doubt he will be extradited now.
 
I was in the gym this morning and saw footage of him on Sky .... geez, what a drama queen!! Hasn't shaved in days, hair is uncombed, walking with head down and eyes closed (it's a wonder he did not take a tumble!) .... he 's really trying his best to look like a persecuted man.

That sounds more like he's under an extreme amount of stress to me :p

The head of cardiology at Inkosi Albert Lutuli hospital in Durban, Professor DP Naidoo, personally discharged Shaik in December 2008 because he was considered well enough to leave. However, Shaik remained in the ward until his parole. There have been several accusations of Shaik violating the terms of his parole - including staying at Thanda Private Game Reserve for three nights in June 2009. The Department of Correctional Services said Shaik's parole officer had given him permission to recuperate in a luxury lodge.

The proceedings started by outlining the three arguments to be laid before the court: The defence claims he may face torture in South Africa, that his extradition would be unjust because of his mental condition and there would be an abusive process following comments made to the media by senior figures in South Africa.
