It's moot, as Die Burger's presumption appears incorrect.
The suspect has appeared in court, and the police are reported to still be searching for another two suspects.

A man accused of killing a British tourist during her honeymoon to South Africa has appeared in court charged with her murder.
Xolile Mngeni, 26, who was arrested on Tuesday, is suspected of murdering Anni Dewani after the taxi she and her husband Shrien was hijacked in Gugulethu township.
Mngeni, who followed proceedings through a Xhosa translator, said he would apply for legal aid because he could not pay for a lawyer.

Magistrate Jackie Redelinghuys agreed to a state request and ordered that no photographs be published of the accused after legal arguments it could prejudice a planned identification parade.

Yesterday a post-mortem into Mrs Dewani's death revealed there was no indication of sexual assault.

Police captain Frederick van Wyk said it showed she had died from a single gunshot wound to the neck. Her body has now been released to her family.

Tragic for them and SA tourism, but... do you not think Jamie Oliver is also partly to blame for encouraging foreign tourists to visit a restaraunt in a very dangerous area where these people clearly wouldn't understand the risk involved?

If that is your line of argument, we should also blame FIFA, SAFA, SA Tourism and all the residents of Gugulethu.
 
Thing is , generally in SA when a couple is jacked, the husband is beaten and the wife raped. No sexual assault, husband uninjured, no scratches etc . !!!
 
Did someone not say the husband has gone home already? who will be at the identity parade to finger the suspect, is the hubby coming back?

He can come back for it, no reason to hang around here.

AFAIK, our law requires the eyewitness/person making the identification to be present in person at the identity parades, i.e. it cannot be done via any form of remote communication.

I think we can applaud the police in this case, and in KZN where those 6 people were murdered. Give credit where it's due at least just once in a while. It isn't that hard to do.
 
OK, from what I've gathered in the media:
  • quite a few people involved in the commission of this crime
  • car was hijacked but not stolen
  • only a few items of value stolen from the victims
  • husband was left, unscathed, despite some media reports that said that he was thrown from the vehicle
  • wife was killed with a single gunshot, yet wasn't sexually assaulted - which is what they normally do
  • husband left the country, even before the post-mortem was complete; is he not a suspect then or have they ruled him out already?

Which leaves me to ask:
With the valuables that they could have gotten from this couple, or the car that they could've stolen, what was the motive of this crime?

And before people start accusing me of conspiracy theories, I want to ask this:

Has any murder, one that was widely publicised and even well-documented, ever been senseless?

Going on available reports to very hard to decipher a motive for murdering the woman.

I'd like to find where you get your wild accusation of the cops spending all their time on this murder thus leaving all the other murders unsolved/investigated.
