Yeah, they will have to hold onto Malan.
 
England looking a disheveled mess. Root and Malan the only two showing any resistance with the bat. Stokes and Buttler looking completely disinterested in what they're meant to be doing and as senior members of the squad, it doesn't inspire confidence.

Hameed and Burns are out of their depth. They remind me very much of Michael Carberry a few Ashes series ago who was found woefully wanting at the top of the order.

And let's not forget that Australia won this match without Cummins and Hazelwood.

I fear for England for the remainder of this series, especially from a batting perspective. In fact, I'd even go so far as to say we won't see one English centurion this whole series and when your batsmen aren't scoring, your bowlers don't have a snowball in Hell's chance.

Don't think Stokes isn't interested, he is just woefully out of form. Expected when he hasn't played for 6 months.

Butler never wanted to be on this tour.

Looked at some of those stats.
Last time Eng made merry in Aus was 2010 when the likes of Strauss, Cook, Pietersen, Bell, Trott were in full cry hitting big hundreds against a rampant Aus bowling and batting lineup.

That won't happen here.

True with Stokes, but then again I am not sure they had any practice matches on the tour...or did they? Would have been good for Stokes to find some form.

Butler had the chance to pull out, probably saw the bucks and never did.

I actually get a sense that the Aus victories are limited to what's on the trophy. They're almost muted in their celebrations since theres no real fun and satisfaction in steamrolling your opponent.

Only had one vs the England lions.
 
Something horribly wrong in England's cricket if this is the best IX they have.
 
Pretty much expected. They drop the opener who's finally finding form and then both out of form opener's fail.
Rest is scripted with only Root offering something.
