The Ashes 2021-22

What a comeback from Khawaja. Two centuries: quite the statement.
Wonder if they’ll give him another shot on tour. They're going to Pakistan next.

ENG 30/0

Day 4: Stumps - England need 358 runs

Can England survive a whole day ? Without rain I don't think so.

Definitely will especially in Pakistan - his home country - he's seen as something of an inspiration.
Also would seem very politically incorrect/unsportsmanlike to do that.

Thing is, he averages 24 in away tests, and probably not suited to Pakistani pitches.

This stat is not a consideration when you look at the political importance of having a Pakistani born Aussie playing in Pakistan for the first time in 23 years. And I think this is exactly the reason they played him. At 35 he's way to old to be considered a future prospect when there's others who can be selected as second choice.

Also, Pakistan has a very poor record not only against Aus but against Aus on home soil.
This being their last victory.

That is very misleading as Pakistan haven't played aus on home soil for 20 years.

The last 3 neutral series in 2x uae and 1 in England Pakistan has won 2 and draw 1.

Those were just disposable 2 match series to give Pakistan some airtime. Aus even sent a ODI side in 2018 to UAE for the test matches - drew 1, lost 1 but they hammered Pak in the ODI's - 5-0.
