THE ASHES THREAD - AUS v ENG

Strange bit here. Nobody is more arrogant than the Aussies and the South Africans are pretty good themselves at arrogance.

yeah but the Aussies back it up. England don't. I respect the Aussies more than the English.

Oh, well... you're entitled to your opinion.

I thank the quota system everytime KP has a great test match. I love him (I'm not shy to admit it).

I reckon one more wicket will see an English victory ... Hussey and Haddin have been the saviours of their batting in the series to date.

Why do you want an arrogant Kant who thinks he is the business at 20 batting at no 9? No thanx. We may be many things but arrogant is not something i associate with us, the aussies are arrogant but they are arrogant in the winning kind of way. England are stuck up wannabe snobs who talk our players into their team because they cannot produce talent :D. They are just lucky the aussies are having a talent problem as well. Not long until the they come sniffing our shores for some talent though :D.

I hope they win though, i want aussies to suffer and fall below the WI and perhaps even bangies :D.

There I switched on the TV to watch the end, and I was too late:

"England won by an innings an 71 runs"

Looks like the Ozzies folded big time :D

Looks like England might retain the Ashes. Really sad to see Australia struggle so badly now, I mean they were on top of the world for almost 20 years and in a year have fallen to sixth on the world rankings and might even fall more...

The anti English posts as usual, Anyway, it must grate alot of people here with this past weekends sporting results, Lee Westwood Nedbank champ, England sevens Dubai champs, and now the second Ashes Test.

Back on topic,

As long as England does not let this 2nd test whipping get to their heads, they should do well this series, and keep the Urn.

Funny how just prior to the ashes some English posters on the BBC were calling for the heads of all the non-English natives in the team. Petersen, Trott, etc.

WOW... well done to the saffers in the english team.

Will England thank SA after beating the Aussies.

Lol..., How many ex pat English/English Saffers from English stock has SA in all sporting codes used over the Decades.

Well done Poms. Really well played and throughly deserved victory.

Aus were poor in all aspects of their play.

Well done SA

I heard the england selectors live in SA and convince our players to go there until they are intelligible. Either way the aussies are in big trouble.

Well done to england. This is a dreadfull aussie side but you still have to beat them. Seems that once SA broke the hoodoo aus are now looking very vulnerable at home...

Don't see Aus winning 2 out of 3 tests they need to win the ashes. So unless england get overconfident they should have a great chance. Losing broad is a blow but I am sure they will cope. Also congrats to swann, one of my favorite current internationals.

KP is a great player, but that quota reason is a myth. Tell me what sort of batsman he was at age 19 and what batsman kept him out of the KZN team.

To my knowledge he was an offie at the time when Symcox was playing for them. The quota system did not stop Graeme Smith, AB, Jaques kallis, et al from becoming the players they were.
Pietersen used his English heritage to take a short cut into the county arena with help of the disgruntled Rice- who never forgave SA cricket for not immortalising him with what he felt was his God given right after 21 years of isolation- the SA test captaincy on re-admission. The last man to miss out on an SA test debut in 1971 became the first man to miss out on re-admission, so he sulked off to England. Don 't believe the crap he comes up with.

Oh , and the way Pietersen made 'friends' in county cricket proves that KZN was not the only team he had trouble with or walked out on.

...or what the hell...don't worry about the facts.
