He nicks as Smith flings to his left from second slip and takes it. He matches Stokes' agility while Johnson lodges himself into the wickets column..

I wonder why they declared. It's certainly not a time issue, nor is it a runs (or lead) one. I can only imagine there's a psychological aspect in that Australia will know they 'couldn't' bowl England out.

Unless there's weather coming in over the next day or two that I'm unaware of...

Most definitely a mind game. The Aussie openers were thinking of their tea and cucumber sandwiches and not having to bat before lunch.

Toss up between the marginal value of extra runs versus risking your main bowlers being injured by facing Mitch Johnson when he's fired up.

Declaration was based on 9 wickets down not lead. Not much more can be scored if there's an advantage.

Im sure if less wickets down they wouldve batted on
