The all-new Audi R8 is the automaker's most powerful, fastest production car yet.
Since its launch in 2007, also the same year it was introduced locally, Audi has sold nearly 27 000 units worldwide.
The first-generation Audi R8 found 345 homes locally.
Next-gen R8
• Audi R8 V10 quattro S tronic: R 2 630 500
• Audi R8 V10 Plus quattro S tronic: R 2970 000
The R8 is sold with a five-year or 100 000km Audi Freeway Plan as standard.

The V10 accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.5seconds, onto a top speed of 320km/h.
For the V10 plus, the fastest production Audi ever, the figures are 3.2sec and 330km/h. This model will also sprint 0-200km/h in 9.9sec.
One engine, two outputs
The new R8 has a single engine though available in one of two engine outputs - 397kW/540Nm and 449kW/560Nm. The same 5.2-litre V10 will perform duty in the ‘normal’ R8 V10 and the R8 V10 Plus.
Efficiency has improved over the previous model by up to 13%. The new V10 engine was given effective efficiency technologies such as the COD (cylinder on demand) system, which shuts off one row of cylinders under low load conditions.
Another is dual injection, which injects the fuel into the combustion chambers and induction manifold according to demand.
Channelling the power
Positioned behind the V10 is a seven-speed S tronic gearbox. The dual-clutch transmission sends power to the quattro drive system with an electro-hydraulically activated multi-plate clutch at the front axle.
Its new chassis features aluminium double wishbone suspensions and electronically controlled shock absorbers (Audi magnetic ride) are available as an option on both versions.
In both engine versions, the new Audi R8 has standard 19" wheels, and 20" wheels with size 245/30 tires in front and 305/30 at the rear are available as an option. In the top model, carbon-fiber ceramic brake disks provide stopping power (optional on the R8 V10).
