The Audi Thread

Lol. Ya...

I have discovered that if I reverse, then the message goes away and the car drives fine until I switch off.
Feels horrible.

Anyway - booked in for next Thursday. Can't go sooner cause the panel beater is starting the repair work tomorrow. When my car goes in for the gearbox they said they will inspect my car for pirate parts (had that before on my A6).

Had that on my A4. Started with the yellow warning like yours and then it started with the red warning and the car would switch off when you stopped at a robot or stop sign. Really tested my wits it did. If it's the same issue as mine then it'll be needing a new mechatronic unit at a cool R20k. Praise Jesus for the Freeway Plan.

Wow. Ye - glad Audi are covering it.

Do the 3rd party warranties (post Audi plan) cover this sort of thing?

@Mike Smit

I just saw one of these beasts at the Karaglen Mall...

Audi RS 5, and it sounded awesome :D

It's a 4.2 V8, 1 - 100km/h in 4.5 seconds, going for a cool R1 mil

OMG Only in my wet dreams

For a cool R21 200 optional extra, Audi will up the speed limiter from 250km/h to 280km/h :wtf: Anyway, here's the full house costing of R1 186 600

@Gaz, what Audi do you have? What would an annual service set you back if paying yourself?

2010 A4

My last service was just over R1000 for an oil change at the dealer (under freeway plan). But generally between 1k and 2.5k based on previous invoices. With new brake pads included, my one service came to R6.5k.

Service costs across most vehicle brands are pretty much consistent in the R1000 to R3000 range. Things only get expensive when stuff breaks.

Nice.

Audi is taking the next big step in integrating digital technologies into automotive retail: The Audi VR experience gives customers the opportunity to configure their preferred car at the dealership through virtual reality headsets and experience it in a unprecedentedly realistic way. The headset showcases the entire model portfolio of the four rings, including all possible equipment combinations. Audi has become the first automotive manufacturer to develop a dedicated retail software solution for virtual reality headsets.

So my 2010 A3 1.8T is five years old in December this year and then out of motor plan. Mileage will be under 65,000km by then.

If I keep it and don't extend the maintenance plan, is it worth fiddling and doing funny things to it to tweak the car?

Assuming I don't decide to trade it in or something! It's close to full house spec I think, minus satnav, sun roof.
