The Audi Thread

Not that I will be keen to spend the money, but is it costly to replace rear lights with something that resembles the more recent models, say if I want to spruce up my 2010 A3 when its out of motor plan end of the year?

Oh, and if doing mods like that, do the insurance companies catch a nappy rash about it?

Mulling over this...

Just considering it. Got 10k kms left in motor plan and with my recent S-Tronic issue I am concerned. Thinking about trading before out of plan.

Still really want an A7, but they are like hens teeth, so also considering going smaller. My wife just purchased a Jeep so her car can become the family holiday car. My car is really just me and my son outside of holidays.

The flip side is to just wing it. Take a R7k warranty for 2 years and hope nothing major outside the warranty goes wrong with my A5. Really enjoy the drive and don't really want to trade her.

Excuse my boy acting like a tool :)

Not sure what your budget is but I think you should stop messing around and get back to your roots... with this!!!

228kw turbo aspirated at altitude is lethal!!

Saw a neat A7 at Audi Sandton :).

If you like the A5, but consider a new car, why not test drive an RS5? You know you want to.

The only problem is you are not going to get out of it.

When is this happening?

Sold my TTS a year ago... Would love to see how the new one compares!

Was tonight - Claremont Audi. They said I could pop in any time during the week. The owner calls it an iPad on wheels. :)

PS still in love my my A5, so not too tempted really

Sigh... That is nice!
I sent those TT pics to my wife via whatsapp when I was at Audi today. She said the TT won't suit me. A5 or > she says. You just confirmed what she said

You are dead right. Would love an RS5. Every few weeks someone on the Audi A5 Owners Club forum gets one and post pics. Makes me freaking envious.

When I purchased my A5 at Audi Airport, they had a black RS5 on the floor. Holy f***. That thing was sexy. With a price tag of just over R800k for a preowned it turned into an instant dream. One day when I am big...

Yeah. The TT is a bit of a hairdressers car. Having said that, the new one is stunning. The interior is so 21st century. Just awesome!!

A6 is a meneers car. Big Audis don't hold their value all that well. There is such good value to be had in that segment of the market. Also look at the performance figures on that 3.0T engine! Remarkable. Frugal on fuel if driven conservatively but very quick through the gears when you want the performance. Scope for modification on that engine is vast too. IMHO it's a no brainier.

I don't know enough about modding to risk it really. At A5 Owners Club, some of the guys do insane mods to their cars and create build threads. I don't understand half of what they say

Common sense tells me to stick with what I have. Besides the brake and transmission issues I have had in the short time of ownership - I really got a good deal spec wise. I have not stopped looking at cars since purchase (who does) and I can't find anything with the same spec.
All that is making me anxious is this S-Tronic out of plan. Even though Audi SA said they would cover 70%. I dunno. Worries me.
It's a fantastic car to drive though.

Yeah, if you change now you going to lose bombs!

The only modding I was implying was a simple remapping of the chip software. R10k but significant boost in performance etc

Price? Probably my left nut sack. These things ain't cheep. If price is okay, I would love to go take a look.

Not sure. I can find out on Friday when I pick up my Q3 baby :) alternatively phone and ask to speak to MJ

Just checked on their website - 2012 and 2013 model with +- 70k kms, for R440ish.

Ah, that I can do
Who does it, and will it affect warranty (3rd party) or insurance? I naturally won't do a thing until the motor plan expires in a few months.

I have heard that sometimes the remap can improve fuel consumption too. True?
