Anyone know how much a replacement battery for an immobilizer will set me back?

R20- 40 its normally one or two CR2035 or LR type battery if you do it yourself. Some are sealed and charge from the car then I don't know, probably replace fob at some stupid price.

AUDI SPORT TO OFFER DIESEL VERSIONS OF NEW S6, S7?

A fresh report out of Europe suggests that Audi Sport is planning to offer diesel versions of its upcoming S6 and S7 performance vehicles.

According to Motor1 France, the Ingolstadt automaker hopes to take on the quad-turbo BMW M550d xDrive with these rumoured new oil-burning derivatives.

Of course, the German brand has affixed its “S” badge to diesel variants before, first in the shape of the SQ5 and then later the SQ7.

If the new derivatives do see the light of day, Motor1 suggests they will each employ a suitably tuned version of Audi’s 3,0-litre bi-TDI V6.

The publication speculates that the diesel-flavoured S6 and S7 would arrive “well after” the petrol-powered models. For the record, the next-generation A7 is likely to be revealed in the coming weeks, with the new A6 set to follow in 2018.

I was looking at Audi's on cars.co.za yesterday and was wondering what the difference is between "normal" and ambition. Does anyone know what gets added/changed?

chaps, after 11 years of driving TDIs, and the pathetic consumption on the 1.6, I think it's time to go back to petrol.

I'm just looking at the vehicles at Audi CFM and I see a couple of new 1.4 and 2.0 A3s there. I'm thinking the 110kW 1.4 has plenty power for us, the furthest we ever go is Hermanus every now and then.

What is the consensus on the TFSi engines? Any major issues on either the 1.4 or the 2.0?

2.0TFSI and some 1.8TFSI around 2010/2011/2012 has high oil consumption issues.

Mileage is under between 5.5 and 6L/100 on the highway, in town I’m usually in sport mode and accelerate hard so above 10 but you can do around 8 I guess.

It’s at 55000 kms and I haven’t had one single complaint yet.

Doesn't the 1.9tdi or 2.0Tdi on later models have amazing consumption?

I've often seen people mention economy figures hovering around 5L/100km even on high mileage vehicles.

I drove a A4 B6 TDi a while back and was very surprised at the power, when the turbo kicked in it threw you back into your seat, not bad at all.

The TDi engine used to be so much better than the petrol ones, but the new TFSI are cleaner and fuel consumption is not bad either.

diesel is dead, in a few years you will not see new diesels being produced.

TFSI is more expensive to maintain though, extreme pressure fuel pumps/direct injection etc?

By that I mean they are awesome when they work but perhaps not as robust past 200,000km. The TDi engines especially the widely used 1.9 seems to go forever 350,000km+ is not unusual for them, engine still unopened, turbo and clutch sometimes still original.

I was about to say how the hell do you reckon they are more expensive to maintain as you almost never replace those things.

But then I saw the 200,000km part.

I think at those mileages it really all becomes much of a muchness and you have to question how many people really actually go there.

Three of my windows won't auto go down from the driver side, but do go up. I tried this but had no effect.

Battery is fairly new as well

Isn't the 110KW 1.4 TSI the supercharged and turbocharged engine that's quite problematic? The 90KW turbocharged only engine is the reliable one.

Keep in mind that if you had a battery disconnect the BCU will forget the top and bottom position of the windows. So auto up and down won't work until you do one cycle of all the way down then all the way up for each of the windows.

right... how about the 2.0 TFSI? Is that also turbo- & supercharged?
