The Audi Thread

PP, I think you should get this thread renamed to The Unofficial Audi Thread. Sorry man - we have severely jacked this thread of yours :)

Thanks dude.

R90k is what they gave me for the A6. Freaking extortion!
On Autotrader they are going for R190k to R210k. Freaking annoys me.
If I did not depend on my car so much I would sit on a private sale ad for a while then look for another when sale done. But ye... To time a private sale with a purchase replacement of something you want is not easy.
I owe quite a bit less than trade-in which helps soften the blow.

Was also hard to find a car that was at least a 3L with FSi and Quattro as well as the rest of the add-on specs I wanted. Why I jumped at this A5.

It's when I read things like this that I wish I just knew beforehand and I would have offered people even slightly more than the trade in and everyone is happy.

Few years ago a friend of mine traded in his Yamaha R6 with virtually no mileage on and in showroom condition because he washed it more than he rode it.

Rocks up with a new R6 and I ask what he for on trade. I can't remember the exact details but it was less than half of what a decent one was selling for never mind a perfect one.

I would have paid him cash and 20% more quite happily and everyone would have been winners.

I have been eyeing the RS7 since they announced it. But that will still have to wait a while. Aiming for the RS6 in the next 3 years or so. The RS5 is also awesome, but just to little space for me. I tend to lug around a lot of stuff.

I also don't like fact on all these RSs being NA cars.

Up in JHB the performance difference between stock S4/RS4 and stock S5/RS5 is none existent. I wish they've move the RS range to forced induction

Yea - sea level ... up here at reef a chipped S4 runs from the the RS4/5

Because in most countries it's not an issue. Up here in GP, we unfortunately have to tow the line...

The RS4/5 is more than just its engine. The biggest difference IMO is the suspension. DRC is very expensive, but well worth it.

Also, its not that you really feel the lack of a turbo. Having 302kw in an NA engine is awesome. Rather if they found a way to stop the carbon build up in the intake manifold....

True - but there are gradients as well. So while not everywhere is 1.8km upwards - quite a few other areas are 500m-1000m which also slightly reduce the output by between 4-8% - so even that could be around 15kw lower.

Not a biggy - but if I bought the flagship performance of the range, I wouldn't want the lower model running near me :P

+1

I've seen a few guys traded their forced induction Sx for the faster NA RSx and they admit that it may be slower than their old cars, they'd still do the trade again because there is more to it than just power

Personally - I do prefer forced induction on normal cars. I admit though, never driven a 300kw+ NA car

No worries man, I'm happy with the way things are going.

Obviously the current title serves to help those with a R100,000 budget, so not sure about a name change? Should we just keep going the way we are?

Done :)

You should have. A beer or 3 would have been in order :)

Done. Joyride is tomorrow. Heading down to Durbs by the sea (k@k place) :)

I was not actually too keen on silver, but I think Audi pulled it off well on this baby. I like it in silver.

Only fault I found is the sound system won't recognise my SanDisk 64GB. Having to use the 32GB. Will try reformatting the 64GB later.

Fudgen hell that a beauty:D:whistle::D

Well, I'm been trying to keep it as close to the R100k budget as possible but then you got okies like Mike who derail with their R300k+ upgrades!!!!:p

Hmm since I'm the only one here who hasn't flippen posted any pics...

Nice Debeer, that A3 sedan is also quite a looker!

Damn Audi making such beautiful cars, times like this where I miss my old A3 and the four rings of excellence.
