The Audi Thread

Guys... a trip from JHB to Durban should be 6-9 hours (giving generous allowance), and we haven't heard back from Mike yet. Am I the only one waiting with my breath held to see the conclusion of his thoughts and evaluations?

Sure he will check in shortly!!

Also very interested to hear whats what!!

What do you need it for? Anything? Safety? :)

I have had speedboats over the years.
Most of the time, the boat has been at the house, so it is a case of towing & launching the boat.
Many dams have storage & launching services, so towing is not really that much of an issue, besides, i will probably get rid of it soonish - tired of the hassle & effort.

Sorry for the delay guys. Arrived and me and the old man cracked a bottle of Peroni each then proceeded to klap a bottle of Shiva's. Not been near my phone.

My old man helped me reaffirm my thoughts. The A5 is a toy. Fun to play. The A6 is fun to drive.

When we hit KZN the performance certainly increased - but it's not my A6. Note - I said MY A6. I need to test other A6's but I am almost certain none will come close. I really miss my A6 right now. That baby was a beaut. Performance, driving, etc... Leaps over the A5. A5 does look better - but that's it.
Going to give tomorrow and the drive back on Sunday to make up my mind, but right now - I want my A6 back.
If I still feel this way on Sunday afternoon I will begin the process of trying to reverse the deal.

Feel a bit bumbed right now.

Come to realise, not all Audi's are created equal.

Edit:
Fuel consumption : A6 better
Power : A6 better
Driving comfort : A6 better
Looks : A5 better
Sound : Undecided

That sucks. You are not the first person I heard that was unhappy after "upgrading" their 6 series Audi. Someone else told me the same after getting a Porsche, that he rather want his S6(I think) back.

Ye - the A6 is definitely a different drive to < 6. Very different.

I have found an A6 that I am keen on. Also silver etc.. and with a few more features. R10k more than the A5 and almost 20k less on the clock (53,000kms).

When I can afford it, I am going to go A7.

3.0 TDi at Hatfield?

Bang on the button.

Only prob I have with it... Not Quattro.

Ya that will probably change the drive quite a bit.... How will Audi handle you returning the car if you decide to do so? Is it something you had spoken about already?

Not spoken about it - but hoping not an issue.
When my wife got her A4 from them she was unhappy with some stuff and they swapped it out for another one after about 2 months of bickering. So there is some hope.

This is the 3rd car I have purchased from them so going to play the loyal customer card.

But we'll see. Things may change and the A5 grows on me.

I also heard about someone that bought a 20,000km Audi S3 that was plagued with issues - and they swapped it.

Then I look at VWSA attitude towards that new Scirocco R and wonder why they're such dicks about it

Very sorry to hear about that Mike. I really do hope you can get properly sorted with everything!

Heavy dude.

I like manual... Can't seem to find an A6 with this. You're piquing my interest.

Am I silly to like manual?

Manual is fun and good, but with upper end luxury cars it gets phased out entirely. I think the A5 is the highest Audi you get that has a manual option at all, from A6 and on they are all automatic in some way

Anyone have any thoughts on the A6 2.4 engine? V6 and 130kW which is more than my old Mazda 626 2.5 V6 122kW engine which I miss so much. I'm worried about consumption of the 3.2. Get good consumption with my 2.0.

I really like the A6 Avant, much more modern rear than the sedan. But the sedan isn't too bad.

Cool.

Cool.

Well, I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2007 A6!! Paying more than I wanted to spend but this car is CLEAN!! Almost as clean as Mike's!! :o

3.0TDI Quattro, 119k on the clock R170k!! Taking my 2.4 as is, for book, R50k! Bit of a hiding...

2.4 is a lovely little engine! Get around 10l/100km currently but if I drive conservatively on an urban cycle I can do around 8/5l/100km.

At sea level you going to get decent performance out of that 2.4 N/A V6...

Lovely, good luck! Seen that ad, looks tip top. Please post some pics when you have her. :)

First thing I'll do is put on a Powerflow. Miss that awesome V6 sound of my Mazda. :D

Will do!! Yeah, It looks like a 2 year old car at most, clean as a whistle and a far cry from the one I drove on Friday. R20k more but well worth the extra! BUT R50k more than Mike was willing to accept for his.
