The Audi Thread

Consumption is slowly coming down thanks to the fixed fuel leaks that I had on the Avant. With spirited driving, it hovers around the 17l/100km mark:oops:

I also went back and read this thread from start to finish (what a ride) and I see the first time I mentioned an Avant was way back in April 2019. So it seems the dream has been a long time coming...only took 2.5-odd years to become reality:love:

The black one has always had an issue with the turbo, I think sticky waste gate, performance was never all there - but that white one. My word - it will scare you - it scared us as students and in modern times you would not let students near that. Yet there we were redlining that beast - repeatedly - it took it like it wanted more.... Flip, there is nothing that sounds like a 2.2 5-cyl S4 above 5900 when it peaks. Both these are '94s so last model year.

Come to think of it some of the cars I love most are 2.2L. Our first Merc was a C220, then this S4 and the equally cool Citroën DS the same guy owns, my 407 was also a 2.2

These C4 S4s are some of my favourite VAGs.

Any places in Durban that do diff oil service (front, rear and centre) on the quattro system. A4 B8.5 3.0TDi with 208k. I feel I should also do a de-carbon also but looks like only CT and JHB offer that.

You might need to phone around and find an engineering shop that can offer walnut blasting for your carbon cleaning, but then you'd probably need to find someone to strip it and have it sent in unless you want to do it yourself

Thanks, I might just keep it simple and plan a trip to cape town and visit friends and family and do it there. 2 birds one stone. Probably better chance finding a shop that can do the quattro system too.

Err...

Seems there is now vag spec in dbn, only cpt and jhb.

These guys know what they are doing.

Err...

There is a big following of the Allroads over on r/battlewagon as well. I quite like the look of some of the lifted wagons.

Three questions:

1. How easy is it to get the dealer to 'permanently' disable the 'stop/start' function?

2. Has anyone retrofitted a 'sharkfin' aerial on an Audi A1 (which comes with a 'bee sting' aerial

3. What do you all think about ECU performance tuning eg https://www.quantumtuning.co.uk/car-remap-tuning-remapping.aspx?Make=Audi&Range=A1
For number 3, I highly recommend Revo https://www.onlyrevo.com/ had it on my A3 and takes 10 mins to load at a dealer. You can find SA dealers on the Revo SA website here http://www.revotechnik.co.za/
