The Audi Thread

You're right, you passed the test :P

Just sold my dads A6 C5 yesterday for R5k. Been sitting for 6 months after what I suspect is a head gasket went, but still ran but it wouldn't start when the buyer was looking at it, fuel pump faulty/seized, so I knocked it down from R10k.
If you had time and/or space you would have got more for parts.

RMH in Parow. I think the DPF was already blocked and affecting performance when I did the EGR. Now it feels very sweet
Just got mine back yesterday from having
DPF delete
Cat Delete
Adblue Delete
and a stage 1 remap

2016 C7.5 A6 3.0Tdi
Its a different beast now - the throttle response , the power and boosting

BTW I have a brand new container of 10L adblue anyone in the JHB west rand area wants it , its yours for free.
Bought it because that pesky "Refill Adblue no start in 2400Km" message popped up , got the adblue on Tuesday last week to refill it over the week, last Thursday got the message saying "Adblue Fault no start in 1000km" plugged in a OBD something about bank one valve closed and bank 2 value open. I had too much issues with Adblue so decided to delete the system. - anyone wants the 10L its sealed you welcome to it

You get used to it pretty quickly then it starts feeling slow again. :P

How much did that set you back?
R10k - the gutting of the DPF and the CAT ( The insides were returned to me - scrap value but i will chuck it away)
R4k - remapp stage 1
had a set of rear brake pads that I was going to get around to changing had them do it was charged labour ( R900.00) ( electromechanical handbrake)
2 coolant lines were brittle had them changed with genuine Audi ones ( R1350.00 for 2)
All in with VAT stuff about R17 040.00

Next on the list a DSG service

I dont know hey

Prior to stage one it did pull like a freight train and I used to floor it everytime I got a clear path , now it pulls like a freight train on acid , i am seeing traction light come on in D , previous on S I would see it occassionally.

But besides the power upgrade it just runs so much better, It feels totally different like it doesnt need to work as hard. I went from the West Rand to Sandton around 10am off peak and decided to use the highway and it got to stupid speed without even trying

Pics up revs like a petrol now.

CAT scrap can be very valuable due to the precious metals they use, a few thousand rand in some instances, just google a CAT scrapyard, or search on Facebook marketplace for one, you might be surprised what they offer.

Was more referring to kick down from D7 to D3 when it rev matches the DSG.
Oh Yes the spooling of the turbo is much faster as well - Yes the kickdown is instant. I noticed i picked up a little bad habit I am giving it the beans every chance I get, and my fuel efficiency is out the window. I also noticed that stage one keeps the car in 6 gear most times and very rarely shifts to 7th unlike previously, i guess it helps with the oiling issues these engines are prone to. I have laptimer enabled using OBD2Scanner and no its not for racing a 2.3ton sedan the reason I activated it was to have oil temp at a glance and noticed that post deletes that oil cools down quicker when you drive hard and come back to a more sensible state of driving. I have this habit of letting the car idle for about a 1 before switching off and I see the temp dropping in that minutes faster than before.

Heres a general question to all out here that know their stuff I previously looked at a cotton air filter one of those famous branded ones but was put off due to seeing numerous post about that causing extra DPF regeneration, also most of the guys on youtube reviews that were testing these products claimed it never made that much of a difference. I am thinking now with no DPF and CAT, getting more air in faster should not hurt what do you guys think?

I also have the lap timer oil temp enabled.

I wouldn't bother with airfilters to be honest. akaik its like 2% gain or something stupid. Now you have the added pleasure of cleaning it too.

Also heard that the oils used to clean them can get sucked into the turbo underboost and its not nice for the turbo

Yeah, not worth it. Probably cover your MAF sensor in oil too.
Oh yeah you right that's another possibility , good idea will give it a skip, I change the air filter every second service, given the air quality up here is not the best and always use a quality brand.
