The Audi Thread

Want to buy a few treats for my car, what's a good interior cleaner? Dash, steering wheel/gear knob etc. Will go to Makro and take a look.

I have some Wynns leather treatment, but any leather product recommendations will also be appreciated.

Also bought some of this yesterday. Pesky petrol station promoters. Seems like a good product though. Salesman said I can use it on my dash but I have my doubts. http://fw1.co.za/

I nearly bit on an A7 2 weeks back. Low mileage 2012 model. They wanted 426k for it though and I decided I was not spending so much on a car. But OMG was it sooooo sexy.

Tested drove a 2012 A6 2.0T about 3 weeks back. 40k on the clock and wanting R300k for it. Mine is a 2007 A6 and just rolled over to 175k so been mulling over a replacement.
I was honestly disappointed in this model 5 years newer than mine.
1. No bose sound. WTF.
2. Fuel consumption in this 2.0L was equal to mine and mine is a 3.2. Was prepared to do away with the V6 roar for lower consumption and was disappointed to see hardly any difference. It did have good pull though.
3. No electric seats.
4. Not Quattro (biggie!)

Said to the dude I wanted an upgrade and only prepared to go for a newer model that matched my current specs or beat them. Not heard back from them. Sigh.

Perhaps a good thing. Even though I have high mileage, my baby still drives like new. Just being paranoid I suppose.

Good that you're keeping an eye out. :)

Just get a sports car, make the wife lug the kids around... :p

Agreed. You know you want an RS4/RS6. Both have enough room for wife and kids though.

The only problem is, after an RS, there is no going back to something else. You just want to go to a bigger RS....

On that note. New A7 recently unveiled, so the current line could see quite a drop in secondhand prices when it releases locally sometime next year I'd estimate. Good luck on your further searches.

I went to Audi airport today to have a look at what they got. First thing I saw was an RS4. OMG. Salesman let me play in a bit... Loved it but common sense got hold of me...
Moved to an A7 - even bigger OMG. Then he told me the pre-owned price and I got out.

And then I found my baby... A5 S-Line 3.2 FSi Quattro. Specs ticked all the boxes. 18" alloys, bluetooth, sunroof, electric/heated seats, PDC, blah blah. 2012 model for 320k.
Told him I am not prepared to spend more than R300k so they working on that.

Taking it further on Monday. Pending what they can offer me for my A6.

methinks that A5 will be in your garage this time next week !

I am hoping so. Depends on how well the charo in me can wangle down the price and what they give me for mine. Trade-in value always sucks.
I am really keen on this baby though. Decent upgrade on mine spec wise and engine capacity is exactly what I wanted (same as current A6). Been struggling to find a 3.2 FSi Quattro with all the features.

Damn do I love my Audi's. Number 5 coming up :)

Done deal. Take delivery tomorrow or Thu AM :o

The charo in me scored an extra R20k on trade-in and R6k discount on the A5.

Wishing you many happy miles!

Congrats man, glad you finally got one sorted that speaks to you hey. Hope you enjoy it a lot. How much did they end up offering for the 6 btw?

Maybe you could ask them to hold onto the A6 for a week while you use the A5 to see if you're ready to move on, then afterwards only conclude the deal?

Thanks dude.

R90k is what they gave me for the A6. Freaking extortion!
On Autotrader they are going for R190k to R210k. Freaking annoys me.
If I did not depend on my car so much I would sit on a private sale ad for a while then look for another when sale done. But ye... To time a private sale with a purchase replacement of something you want is not easy.
I owe quite a bit less than trade-in which helps soften the blow.

Was also hard to find a car that was at least a 3L with FSi and Quattro as well as the rest of the add-on specs I wanted. Why I jumped at this A5.

Thanks dude :D

Have to admit though - I am a bit reluctant to do the deal still. I really really love my A6. I am worried that I will start crying when I hand the keys over :( This A6 been the best cab I have ever owned.

You'll cry right up until you drive that A5 out their front door!! After that there will be no looking back!! A5 is a thing of immense beauty!!
