The Audi Thread

Was the Accord stock, and was this before or after you had the BRZ exhaust fitted?

After, and he had an exhaust too. So I'd call it fairly even.

C'mon guys, we're (mostly) in GP, let's set it up. There are obviously quite a few guys in this thread who are passionate about cars, but without the trolling that usually goes along with it :)

Can I come in my Corrolla :p

That depends. Mr Hoxbig is an ex VAG owner and an Audi fan. What about you?

But yes guys, I'd be up for an event. Heading to Kyalami on Friday for a charity track thing myself, but I'm thinking it's fully booked by now.

Ex 91 Corolla owner, upgraded to a 95.
Audi fan but the 1 series coupe is my mistress. GT86 is the stripper I almost married ( the curves and the things she does with her back end :D ).
Never liked VW.

It's complicated :o

Seems fairly balanced then. I'm keen for a MyBB GP car get together, even if I do just drive an old man Honda. :o Some spirited driving followed by a few drinks while talking about cars sounds like a day we'll spent.

Edit: Ex Audi owner and VAG sloot crew checking in.

Damn you all for scratching an itch that had just subsided! Traded my A5 2T Quattro in on a 320d 2 years ago - mostly because the of fuel consumption. I was getting 15l/100km in the morning traffic. Monthly installment also 30% lower. I've pretty much regretted it ever since.

I've been looking at the Q5, but don't really think I'm an SUV guy. That leaves the A6 - more refined drive, slightly better finishings, bigger boot!, cheaper demo's - vs the sportier, über-sexy A5! In many ways, the A6 makes the most sense, but it just doesn't quite get my heart racing/trousers stirring like the A5 does.

I'll bring the sexiness to the party, which is clearly lacking. Nothing quite like the back end on a Giulietta QV ;)

Audi Airport don't have an issue swapping my A5 out for an A6. Said they will send some options through around midday.

Not totally sure I want to do this as I am bonding with the A5, but will let this ride and see what they come up with.

Best of both worlds, A5 Sportback 3.0 TDI. I think Mike can assure you that the sportback has a boot with more than enough space!

I must say I like the A3 sedan. Tempted to upgrade but a 2l TDI with a few extras (auto, nav, xenon, s line) is nearly 500 k

I have A4 18.T 2013 model. Want to get the new 2016 model when it comes out, but starting to think that it is going to be exorbitant. If the A3 (which I also like) is that expensive, what's the A4 going to go for....

I don't know... I prefer the standard looks without the s-line hey, looks more unique since the s-line is available on all the models.

Look for a demo version, mine was a 2 month old demo 1.4 auto with Xenon's, sunroof, cruise, and AMI for 330, would have been about 400 new.

Since this an Audi thread and I'm kinda new - thought I'd post a difference between my Volvo vs Audi.

I really do find the ergonomics in the Volvo better and far for intuitive and simple.

The radio volume was large, compared to the tiny Audi volume ; tracks could be changed direct from the steering wheel ; end/answer call was direct on the steering wheel ; climate control was a, er, breeze to use and far more intuitive and less fiddly. Even the driver computer was more simple and less fiddly .. definately think Audi could learn a thing or two there.

Features wise on my Volvo, I lost out on iPod adapter, active xenon and the biggy was keyless entry. The other two I got used to lacking quickly - but keyless is actually far less of a gimmick than people think and almost 2 weeks on, I still leave the keys in the ignition or walk to the car with the keys in my pocket.

Performance wise - no contest - but that is purely the model and not he car specifically. So it isn't really comparing apples with apples. Also using less fuel on a larger engined, more poerful car - which is great.

Sound - I had to tweak the Audi, but eventually got it the same as my Volvo. Default sounds a little tinny and I had to bias towards the back as even the middle, seems there is no ambiance from the rear. I do wish one had a guide on screen when changing volume - a bar graph or numbers or something. That's nit picking though :P

EDIT : Oh - the antiglare mirror on the Volvo was better - darker and faster.

It's sick that we are reaching the point where an entry level German car is nearing half a million rand.

By all means, I'll never say no to more Alfa around!

Sounds like a good idea, might as well compare while you have the chance to.

Sounds like you hate the S4, I'll take it off your hands for R100,000. When can I come collect it? ;)

hehe ... nah, not at all.

I just think tons of people rip Volvo off and actually, they're not too bad at all. My stepbrother went Audi > BMW > Volvo > Merc and said he also felt things more logically set in place on the Volvo than the other cars. Good ol Swedish design

Confirmed... Unless you had an A6 before :p
I had an A5 and, while the boot is impressive, it doesn't begin to compare to the A6. We still needed to use a trailer when we went on holiday(we had a 1 year old at the time and baby stuff takes up a lot of space!). The A6 is also more spacious in the back.

Got my A6 this morning!!

Might sleep in it tonight...
