The Audi Thread

What is it that you don't like about the A5 compared to the A6?

Feels like an A4. While not bad, it does not feel like an A6.
The drive is so much smoother in the A6.
Have also been told by the family that they don't feel as safe in the A5. Probably because it feels so much smaller.

Best way I can sum it up is the A5 feels like a car. The A6 feels like an Audi. Just based on my expectations of Audi.

Here Mike.

37,000km and fantastic condition - with probably more features than what you're looking at ;)

Lol dude :o

Makes sense. Though I've noticed that as they get newer the suspension gets firmer so it's not as much of a comfort ride anymore (that's when I compare the C6 to the one I've got now)

Okay, so none of the cars I was looking at is available anymore. My maximum is R180000 for around 2011/2012 Audi A4 Multitronic with low km's. Anyone want to sell their Audi's or know of someone? The dealerships charge way more than they should.

I just sold my A4 1.8 T 2011 model to my son 2 weeks ago for R175k, but it was a manual not Multitronic, only had 45k on the clock and it was spotless.

Keep an eye on this - http://www.gumtree.co.za/s-cars/aud...,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,&pr=150000,200000.

Also... http://www.audiclubsa.org.za/cgi-bin/yabb25/YaBB.pl?num=1402476678.

You need to register with a non internet-based email to see pics. It's stunning. But R240k ish... But I don't believe that what he says Audi offered him is true, my conclusion is that it's only possible to receive such a high trade in because he is buying a new car from them.

Mike, did you contact Audi? :)

I did, and as expected - no response.
Maybe this is a sign to just be content with what I have? /insert eery sound :)

I really am conflicted hey. I popped out to a mates house at 11 and had so much fun. He only lives about 4kms from me, and in that short space I had a stop street pull off race with an A3 then some Honda (dunno what - never saw the back). Had a ball. Consumption taking a knock!

Eish dude, hope you are warming her up first!

Ye. I went out this AM to fetch a new domestic and stuff. Never push the engine until temp is snuggly on 90.

Edit: Town driving I seldom push above 4k RPM anyway. Just too much red lining on short distances. And this A5 is so quick it doesn't even need it.

Hmmm not confidence inspiring... If emails get ignored it may be best to show up and talk face to face. Would also increase your chances of getting the car back

Too busy dude. If nothing by sat then I will pop around then.
Not as negatively emotional today as I was last night, and I had fun earlier. So ye.
Think I may be bipolar or something.

I'm loving my A6 with every passing km!! The handling is just superb! This is my first all wheel drive and the levels of grip regardless of road surface is just phenomenal. Picking my daughter up from school the other day I had to park partially off road. I was expecting to have to apply significant throttle to get the vehicle off tar and onto the grass embankment but that wasn't the case. Cruised off and up as if it was a flat tarred road.

Parking is also interesting. First couple of times I swing into a parking with what I consider the correct approach given to what I'm used to in my A4 and taking into consideration the bigger A6 but I've ended up to close on the near side. In other words I've gone too wide on my approach.

As far as cornering is concerned I haven't yet pushed it in this department. I've been driving quite conservatively until I'm more used to her and what she likes/dislikes. Don't think I'll ever push her beyond her limits though.

Fuel consumption is fantastic. Really loving this aspect! Kempton park to Norwood is a 27km round trip, of which roughly 18km is highway and the balance is city driving. I'm getting consistently around 7.3l/100 or 13.70km per litre which is just remarkable. Must emphasize that this is driving quite conservatively and pretty much at the speed limit, no hard accelerating or braking!

One thing I must add is she sounds quite rough in the morning before she's properly warmed up. Idles quite high to, 1000rpm from cold and around 900rpm once warm. Find the idle rev range unusually high but suspect it is within the specified parameters.

Awesomeness dude

Don't think you can push her beyond her limits. I think yours will be hit first. :)
It took me about 6 months before I drove hard. And there was no difference in the cars handling. I was however pushed up by the ceiling somewhere (Ye - exaggeration) but the A6 just cruised.

Now you understand why after driving Quattro it is hard to drive non Quattro :) Difference is huge. Corner? What corner?

Heh, Going from R21N to N1N on the overpass, I tend to overtake everybody :D Quattro rules
