The Audi Thread

What are you trying to do? Code reading for Engine only or absolutely everything? Want to code your car and things like that too?

Absolutey everything including coding as i just got a rnse nav system put in, i have tried a cheap cable with vag 409.1 but could not access everything, also i'm trying to cancel a airbag light but cannot access that at all.

Oh okay then... For error codes I've got a really nice one that I bought as a temp - now looking at going for one that reads all errors (don't need Coding) and works with all cars

Which cable do you use if i may ask? I have been through a few that dont work, but then again i have been told to just shell out the 4k for a ross tech cable to avoid issues.

Autel MS509. It's a full system, not a cable... I plan on getting an MD-802

Quick research shows that i wont be able to cancel the airbag light on my car, the md802 might but not on all cars.. such a petty coz thats what i need it for really. Good product though, still leaves me at square 1.

I took out a Motorite warranty today to cover me when I exit Audi's motor plan (5000 kms to go). Benefit 2. R340 PM for 24 months. Becomes part of my monthly deduction with Audi (FNB) finance. 2 years, unlimited kms (good for me cause I do 3k odd kms PM).

Did I make a decent choice?

Yeah. Good move.

They pretty decent. Don't miss your service intervals though.

Well it took 3 weeks for all the spares to arrive, I dropped the car of yesterday - service advisor told that a complete overhaul of the block is going to be done, new pistons, rings etc - I wonder if they will put in a new oil pump as well ?

Anyway they will check the block when it comes off and if a re-bore is needed then they will have to order a new block, without a new block they say 5 days repair time

Picked up my Audi today, I'm impressed, it took only 6 days to get the bottom end overhauled, thankfully no block damage, invoice came on at a cool R35K, thankfully AFP will pick up that tab - back to happy motoring

Why, though? What does this offer you that the A5 doesn't?

I find the A5 way more appealing, anyway.

Just very fond of the A6. Not that I am not enjoying my A5, just also like the A6.
This A6 is rather highly specc'd which is quite difficult to come by. In the A6 range, you get quite a bit more bang for your buck.

Thoughts guys: http://www.autotrader.co.za/used-ca...-springs-fpa-8a8184dd4cbe2b40014ce64bb8a64b96

They just came through to my house now so I could test drive it. Wow is all I can say. My wife even approves.
Got good specs too. Need opinion on price though if you don't mind.

DO IT!!!!

I been toying with the idea of upgrading too and funnily enough I saw that on Autotrader today too!! Veeeery nice!!!! Some decent extras!! Geesus! Bose sound?

Price seems reasonable but you know you going to take a bath on trade in if you go that route.

Anyway, I made this short video on the way home from work earlier today. It's me jumping on the R21 by the airport. Sorry for the noise. Left the window open for effect...

Arrestable speeds right there :P

Looks like it's a great car, loads of extra's. Quite good for the price. I've been toying with the idea of upgrading to an A5. Is there any particular reason that would make you jump from the A5 to the A6 (Extras excluded)?

No urgency to get an A6 again. I had two A6's before the A5 and just miss the drive. It's quite different.
Personally, I love my A5. It's a fun car. My wife moans everytime we go on holiday though as it is not as luxurious as the A6.

So, while not actively looking for a replacement, I have been keeping my eye out and looking every now and again. This A6 ticks all the boxes.

Trade in on my A5 blows. Really disappointing. Still too early I suppose.

Why you clocking 180 dude? We'll miss your contributions when you're sitting in a cell ;)

Small thing worth mentioning... Next gen A4 is likely coming next year, and the A5 probably not long after. This could have quite an influence on your trade in price, so next year might be the best time to do it if you plan on upgrading.

On the A6: Great car, but my mind jumps to the A7 at that price range (though prices for both will likely drop as the new gen has recently landed for both models).
Same great boot style as the A5, with the comforts of the A6 (though the ride might be slightly firmer). Also has a higher standard equipment level than the A6 so it would be easier to find one with what you are looking for.

I am struggling to find an A7 in that price range. They tend to be on average 100k more for same spec/age/mileage as the A6. I love the look of the A7 and would not hesitate to grab one if the price was right.
