The Audi Thread

Maybe 18kW when the software is done as well in order to account for the mod...

The question is, do you already have a downpipe? If not, then why cold air intake first?

I'm getting the downpipe added in a month or two because I just wanted to make sure the part arrived first. It came to R5600 excluding import duties so it's not exactly cheap.

I made an error with regards to the gains, it's only 10kw. Here's the dyno sheet for the intake.

Sweet...What ride?

2010 B8 A4 2.0T (132kw) - Multitronic

Going to be a different beast soon... My advice would be to get a bolt-on downpipe which simply replaces the cat... Keep the cat for when it comes to selling your car. Simply fit it back and there will be no sign of mods. non bolt-on and they need to cut and weld.

Exhaust should be done too... Again, you can get a bolt-on design where no cutting into the original exhaust gets done... Can be fitted back when you sell on.

Thanks for the advice, PostmanPot! I'd like to make sure it's as stock as possible before selling.

Would you recommend any places to get the software done in the southern suburbs?

Had a chat on Tuesday, with my local mechanic, about one guy who brought his 2012 2.0Tdi s-tronic for the clutches to be redone...R38k. This was due to the required parts from the stealership that came to R24k. Scary stuff!

Slightly OT.

So I watched The Transporter Refueled (2015).

For the most part it's like an extended promo vid for the lovely S8

Hey guys I need some advice.

I have a 2011 B8 1.8T, I bought new. In May this year it comes off the motor plan and the loan finally paid off.

I want to keep the car for another 2 years before I get a new one. I do roughly 20000kms per year. The car currently has 90K on the clock. This means I will have the car until 130K odd kms.

Audi did the bottom end of my engine about a year ago - some design fault or something caused the rings to go.

Audi quoted me R40K for an extended motor plan - 1 year only which I'm not keen on paying for - it's a lot

From your experience what could I expect with regards to service costs and are there any major things that tend to go wrong on a B8 between 100K - 140K kms ?

Guessing here but Audi will base the cost of the plan on what they expect to go wrong on average. So unless you are unlucky, it will cost less than R40k to maintain the vehicle. A bit like medical aid I suppose ...

Go with a Motorite or similar third party warranty. There are various options - some R8,000, some R20,000.

But I don't mean to sow doubt. I would take the risk of no warranty.

As PP said, if you are worried get a warranty. Not that expensive and you should get decent coverage values.
If I am correct, the 120 000km service is quite a biggy with timing chain. Something to consider is the service costs.
